Chapter Thirteen: A Fresh Start
The morning sun slipped through the narrow gap in the trailer's curtains, casting a gentle glow over the room. Y/N's eyes fluttered open, his arm still draped around Jenna, who was resting peacefully against him. He took a deep breath, savoring the quiet, Jenna's soft breathing against his chest grounding him as the reality of the new day settled in.
She was still fast asleep, her face relaxed in a way that made her look impossibly peaceful. Y/N couldn't help but smile, brushing a strand of hair from her face. He thought back to the whirlwind of the past few weeks: filming, late nights, the endless busyness of the set. Yet, despite everything, moments like this made it all worth it.
As if sensing his gaze, Jenna stirred beside him, eyes slowly blinking open. She looked up, a soft smile spreading across her face as she realized where she was and who she was with. "Good morning," she murmured, her voice still thick with sleep.
"Good morning," Y/N whispered back, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "How'd you sleep?"
Jenna let out a content sigh, snuggling closer. "Best sleep I've had in a long time," she said, her voice muffled as she buried her face against his chest. "Thank you for last night... I don't know what I'd do without you."
They lay together in comfortable silence for a few more moments, neither wanting to break the comforting stillness of the morning. But eventually, Y/N's stomach growled, making Jenna laugh as she propped herself up on one elbow.
"Guess we're getting up for breakfast," she said, teasing as Y/N's cheeks flushed slightly.
"Yeah, alright," Y/N laughed, sitting up as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. "But we're doing it right. How about we go somewhere in town and grab some real food? None of that set cafeteria stuff."
Jenna's face lit up at the idea. "That sounds perfect. Let's get out for a bit, just the two of us."
They got ready, changing out of their pajamas and into casual clothes. Jenna slipped on a comfortable sweater and jeans, her hair pulled back loosely, while Y/N threw on a hoodie and sneakers. After a quick splash of water and brushing of their hair, they were ready to go.
Stepping outside, they found the morning air crisp and cool. Walking hand-in-hand toward Y/N's car, they were both hit with a sense of freedom that felt strange yet wonderful. For once, they were simply themselves, not "Jenna" or "Y/N," not actors or public figures—just two people, lost in each other's company.
Driving through town was a refreshing change from the hustle of set life. Jenna rolled down her window slightly, letting the breeze play through her hair as she leaned back, content. Y/N glanced over, catching her peaceful expression, and felt his heart swell. Moments like this reminded him why he'd fallen for her in the first place.
They found a cozy little cafe tucked away in a quiet corner, and as they walked in, the smell of fresh coffee and pastries filled the air. A few people recognized them, but to their relief, most were kind enough to just smile and wave, allowing them to enjoy breakfast in peace.
"Finally," Jenna said with a sigh, sinking into the plush seat across from Y/N as they waited for their food. "It feels so good to just... be ourselves."
Y/N nodded, reaching across the table to take her hand. "Agreed. I think we both needed this."
Their food arrived—a stack of pancakes for Y/N and avocado toast for Jenna, along with two mugs of hot coffee. They took their time, savoring each bite, the conversation drifting from childhood memories to silly things they'd noticed on set. Jenna's laughter echoed warmly in the cafe, drawing a few more glances, but they were too absorbed in each other to notice.
After breakfast, they decided to wander around the little shops in town, taking in the quaint storefronts and unique displays. Jenna linked her arm through Y/N's as they walked, her head resting on his shoulder. "This... feels like home," she whispered, closing her eyes as she took in the calm.
Y/N's heart warmed as he looked down at her, his arm slipping around her waist. "Then let's make it a tradition. No matter where we're filming or how busy things get, we'll always have a day like this. Just us."
Jenna nodded, her smile widening as she looked up at him. "Deal."
They wandered for hours, stopping at little stores to admire local art and knick-knacks. At one point, Jenna found a small, hand-painted ceramic dish and picked it up, turning it over in her hands. "For the trailer?" she asked, showing it to Y/N.
He smiled, taking it from her hands to examine it before nodding. "Absolutely. It's perfect."
By the time they made their way back to the car, the clouds had gathered, and the first drops of rain began to fall. Jenna laughed as they picked up their pace, the light drizzle quickly becoming a downpour. They reached the car just in time, breathless and laughing as they slid inside, both drenched.
"Guess we got more of an adventure than we planned," Y/N chuckled, shaking out his wet hair as Jenna wrung out the hem of her sweater.
Back at the trailer, the rain continued to fall, a steady rhythm against the windows as they changed into dry clothes. Y/N made some tea while Jenna curled up on the couch, wrapped in a blanket. He joined her, pulling the blanket around both of them as they sat close, watching the rain together.
Jenna leaned her head against his shoulder, her eyes beginning to drift closed. "Today was perfect," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
Y/N smiled, pressing a kiss to the top of her head as he tightened his arms around her. "It's not over yet," he replied, resting his head atop hers.
Jenna smiled, her hand slipping into his as they sat together, wrapped in warmth and contentment. They stayed that way, nestled together, the outside world and all its chaos temporarily forgotten. Here, in this little trailer, they had created their own sanctuary—a space where they could be completely themselves, wrapped in each other's presence.
As Jenna's breathing evened out, signaling she'd fallen asleep, Y/N closed his eyes, content to stay right where he was.
