Chapter Ten: Midnight Preparations

Y/N woke up to the soft hum of the air conditioner and the muted glow of the clock on his nightstand: 2:00 AM. He blinked, letting the early hour settle in, before remembering why he'd set such an alarm. Today was the start of their next big adventure — he and Jenna were heading to New York to start filming *Scream*. He slipped out of bed carefully, trying not to wake her, but Jenna shifted, her eyes fluttering open as she felt the bed move.

"What...time is it?" she mumbled, voice still thick with sleep.

"It's two," he whispered, leaning down to press a soft kiss to her forehead. "You can sleep longer. I'm just starting to pack everything up."

She hummed sleepily, not fully awake. "I'll help," she said, yawning as she slowly sat up, stretching out her arms. "We're in this together, remember?"

He couldn't help but smile, watching her pull herself out of the cozy warmth of the bed and shuffle around to turn on a dim light. "Alright," he said, pulling out his suitcase from the closet. "But if you're too sleepy, you're going right back to bed."

Jenna shot him a playful glare but began pulling clothes from her own drawer. They worked side by side, the quiet of the early morning making the packing feel oddly calm. Clothes, shoes, scripts, and personal items made their way into each of their suitcases, carefully folded and arranged. Y/N double-checked everything — from phone chargers to Jenna's favorite snack stash — while she made sure they hadn't missed any important documents.

"This still feels surreal," Jenna said after a while, glancing over at him with a small smile. "We just finished *Wednesday*, and now we're doing this."

"I know," he replied, his eyes meeting hers. "But it feels right, doesn't it? Like this is exactly where we're supposed to be."

She nodded, a look of excitement lighting up her tired features. "I'm so ready for it."

After an hour or so, they finished packing. They sat on the edge of the bed, hands intertwined, taking a moment to breathe. There was a sense of excitement buzzing between them, something they both felt even in the quiet.

"Coffee?" Y/N suggested, giving her hand a gentle squeeze.

"Yes, please," she replied with a smile. "I think we'll need it for the long day ahead."

They moved to the kitchen, where he started brewing coffee while Jenna gathered a few last-minute things. The aroma of coffee filled the space, mixing with the sense of anticipation in the air. Once they each had a warm cup in hand, they sat in the soft light of the kitchen, drinking in silence as the city outside lay still.

Finally, the clock crept closer to the time for their ride to the airport. With bags in hand, they made their way downstairs, where a car was waiting to take them to the airport. Jenna rested her head on Y/N's shoulder as they rode through the still-dark streets, the city lights shimmering past the windows. He wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close, and they sat there in a comfortable, sleepy silence.

At the airport, the usual early-morning rush was just beginning, people hurrying through the terminal with suitcases in tow. Y/N and Jenna went through security, each glance between them carrying a sense of shared excitement and calm.

Once they boarded the plane and found their seats, Jenna settled in next to him, already starting to drift back to sleep. Y/N leaned back, closing his eyes with a satisfied sigh, as the plane began to taxi down the runway.

As Y/N and Jenna settled into their seats, they both sighed in contentment, feeling the anticipation of the journey ahead. Jenna tucked her carry-on beneath the seat, pulling out a cozy blanket. She gave Y/N a mischievous grin as she threw half of it over him. "This is ours now," she declared, snuggling close to him. The dim overhead lights cast a soft glow, creating a bubble of quiet warmth around them as the plane hummed to life.

Once they were in the air, the usual routine of the flight attendants passing out snacks and drinks began, and Y/N nudged Jenna awake from her light doze. "Hungry?" he asked, offering her a pack of pretzels.

She yawned, smiling. "Starving," she replied, taking the pretzels and munching on them sleepily. They shared an assortment of snacks, stifling their laughter as they playfully stole bites from each other's trays. Jenna leaned over at one point to sip from his drink instead of her own, causing him to raise an eyebrow.

"Mine tastes better, apparently," he joked, grinning as she took another sip.

She laughed, her hand lightly resting on his arm. "You know it does."

As the flight attendants dimmed the lights, signaling that most passengers were expected to sleep, Jenna pulled out her tablet to rewatch an old favorite movie, and Y/N joined her, sharing an earbud. They whispered comments back and forth, pointing out the funniest moments, laughing softly so they wouldn't disturb the sleeping passengers around them. At one point, Jenna leaned her head against his shoulder, her eyes fluttering as she fought to stay awake.

"You know you can sleep if you want," he murmured, brushing a few stray strands of hair from her face.

"But we're finally on our way, and I don't want to miss this," she replied, half-asleep but stubbornly determined to stay awake. A few minutes later, though, her eyes drifted shut, her head nestled against him, completely giving in to sleep.

Y/N adjusted the blanket around her and leaned back, watching her sleep peacefully, her breathing soft and even. He felt an overwhelming sense of calm, a quiet joy at simply being there with her, sharing this moment away from the chaos of the world outside.

As the hours passed, he found himself drifting off too, lulled by the steady hum of the plane and the gentle weight of Jenna against him. He woke only as they began their descent, Jenna stirring beside him and opening her eyes to the brightening cabin.

"Almost there," he said, squeezing her hand as she woke fully, a soft smile on her face.

"Almost," she echoed, her gaze full of warmth. Together, they took in the view from the window, the city skyline coming into focus below, a new adventure waiting for them just ahead.

Time skip: 1 Hour

"We're really here," she said softly, squeezing his hand.

He grinned, nodding. "Here we go," he whispered back, knowing this was just the start of another adventure together.
