Chapter Twenty-Four: The Last Night on Set

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of violet and orange, Jenna and Y/N found themselves standing by the edge of the set, both quietly taking in the sight of what had been their home for the past few months. It was their last night on set, and the feeling was both nostalgic and bittersweet.

The studio was quieter than usual, most of the crew had already gone home for the night, leaving only a few lingering lights on and the occasional echo of voices across the nearly empty space. Jenna glanced at Y/N, a wistful smile crossing her face.

"This is it, huh?" she murmured, leaning into him as they both looked around.

Y/N wrapped his arm around her shoulders, nodding. "It's strange, isn't it? We spent months here, and now... just like that, it's over."

They shared a comfortable silence, both lost in their own memories of the countless days and late nights they had spent filming, rehearsing lines, and laughing with the cast and crew.

After a few moments, Y/N nudged her playfully. "Come on, let's take one last walk around."

Jenna smiled, letting him lead her through the set one more time. They wandered past the familiar spots where some of the most intense scenes had been shot—the abandoned warehouse setting, the dimly lit alley, and the dusty, old house that had been transformed into the antagonist's lair. Each spot held memories, and with every step, they found themselves reminiscing.

"You remember that scene we shot over there?" Jenna asked, pointing to a dark corner that had been used in one of the chase sequences. "You completely startled me when you came around the corner that one time!"

Y/N laughed. "I didn't mean to, but you should have seen your face! I thought you were going to scream for real."

She playfully shoved his shoulder, laughing along with him. They moved on, eventually reaching their shared trailer. The door creaked as Y/N pushed it open, and they stepped inside, greeted by the comforting, familiar smell of their little home on set.

Jenna plopped down on the couch, kicking off her shoes as she leaned back and let out a sigh. "I'm gonna miss this trailer. Our little hideaway."

Y/N sat down beside her, pulling her close. "I will too. This place has a lot of memories, doesn't it?"

She nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips. "Yeah. Like all the times we'd come in here, exhausted, and end up napping instead of running lines."

"Or the endless snack raids," Y/N added with a grin. "Pretty sure we ate enough to keep this place stocked for years."

They both laughed, a soft warmth filling the space as they looked around, letting the memories wash over them. The weight of their final day on set seemed to lift a little, replaced by the comfort of each other's company.

As the night grew darker outside, Jenna stood up, taking his hand. "Let's step out onto the roof of the trailer. I want to see the stars one last time here."

Y/N helped her climb up, and they sat on top of the trailer, shoulders pressed together, gazing up at the clear night sky. The stars twinkled above, casting a serene glow over the set. The whole world felt quiet, like it was just the two of them and the vast, endless sky.

Jenna leaned her head on his shoulder. "I don't think I'll ever forget this, you know? This whole experience. It feels... significant."

Y/N kissed the top of her head. "I feel the same way. But this is just the beginning for our careers, you know? There's so much more ahead."

They sat in comfortable silence, the night air crisp around them. After a while, Jenna turned to him, a mischievous glint in her eye. "You know, I heard they left the cameras in the studio."

He raised an eyebrow, curious. "What are you suggesting?"

"Let's go back inside and film a little something for ourselves. Just for fun," she suggested, grinning.

Intrigued, Y/N hopped down from the trailer with her, and they made their way back to the set. They found one of the handheld cameras left out by the crew and turned it on, positioning it so it could capture them both.

They spent the next few minutes play-acting a "final scene" of their own invention, going over-the-top with dramatic lines and intentionally awful acting, breaking into laughter with every take. By the end, they could barely catch their breath, laughing so hard they had to sit down.

With their laughter slowly fading, Jenna looked over at Y/N, her smile softening. "I'm so glad we got to do this together."

Y/N reached out, taking her hand and giving it a gentle squeeze. "Me too, Jenna. I couldn't have asked for a better partner."

They held each other's gaze for a moment, then Y/N pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her as they swayed together in the empty set. The world felt still, quiet, like a perfect moment frozen in time.

After a while, Jenna yawned, the long day finally catching up with her. Y/N smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Come on, let's get back to the trailer and get some rest."

They returned to the trailer, their footsteps echoing softly across the empty lot. Once inside, they slipped into their pajamas, moving around each other with the ease of people who had done this a hundred times before. Jenna crawled into bed, waiting for Y/N to join her, and he slipped in beside her, pulling her close.

As they lay there, her head resting on his chest, Jenna let out a contented sigh. "Tomorrow, we go back to LA. Back to the real world."

"But tonight, we're still here," Y/N replied softly, stroking her hair. "Let's just enjoy this."

And with that, they drifted off, tangled together, making the most of their last night on set, in a place that had become a second home to them both.
