Chapter Twenty-One: Back at it
The next morning, Y/N woke up to the soft sound of rain pattering against the trailer window, a peaceful ambiance settling around them. After a day off to rest and reconnect, he felt more grounded and ready for whatever the next days of filming would bring.
Jenna was still asleep beside him, her face serene, and he took a moment to appreciate the quiet before they'd be thrown back into the bustling pace of set life. He slipped out of bed quietly, careful not to wake her, and made his way to the tiny kitchenette, where he started brewing coffee and preparing breakfast.
As the rich aroma of coffee filled the trailer, he heard Jenna stir. Soon enough, she emerged from the bedroom area, her hair slightly tousled, a soft smile on her face.
"Morning," she said, voice still thick with sleep as she wrapped her arms around herself and shuffled closer to him. "Smells good."
He handed her a steaming mug, watching as she took a grateful sip and closed her eyes, savoring the warmth. "I thought we could have a quiet breakfast before getting back into the craziness," he said, gesturing to the small spread he'd prepared.
She looked at him, gratitude and affection clear in her eyes. "You're incredible, you know that?"
"Maybe a little," he teased, pulling out a chair for her. "But I'd do anything to make sure you start your day right."
They shared an easy breakfast together, talking about everything from the rain to what they were excited about in the upcoming scenes. Jenna was visibly relaxed, the tension from her recent stresses starting to lift, and Y/N was glad to see her looking more at ease.
When they finally made their way to the set, the rain had slowed to a drizzle, and they were greeted by the usual flurry of activity. Jenna's assistant met them at the trailer to bring them a fresh copy of the day's script and fill them in on the scene schedule.
Today was a big day for Jenna; she had a tense scene to film that would challenge her emotionally. She glanced over the script while they walked, and Y/N could see the gears turning in her mind as she mentally prepared.
"Ready for today?" he asked, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze.
She nodded, taking a deep breath. "I am. It'll be a tough one, but I've got it."
They soon split off to head to their respective scenes. Y/N's scenes were lighter and wouldn't start until later, so he decided to watch Jenna on set, knowing she could use some extra support. As he found a spot out of view but close enough to observe, he marveled at her focus as she slipped into character effortlessly.
Jenna was in full command of the set. Every emotion, every subtle glance, and movement was intentional, and Y/N couldn't help but feel proud. The scene was one of the film's climactic moments, where her character was faced with a haunting revelation, and Jenna poured herself into the role, giving everything.
After a few intense takes, the director called a break, allowing Jenna a moment to reset. She walked over to Y/N, looking emotionally drained but accomplished.
"Wow," he said, handing her a bottle of water. "You're amazing, Jenna. That was... just wow."
She let out a soft laugh, a little breathless. "Thank you. It's a lot, but it feels good, you know?"
"I do," he said with a smile. "You bring so much heart into your work. It's inspiring to watch."
She took a sip of water and looked up at him, her eyes softening. "I'm really glad you're here. Having you around makes everything feel easier."
