Lucy and Eliana walked through the door, arms full of shopping bags and a mix of excitement and exhaustion on their faces. The house was quiet except for the splashing and laughter coming from the backyard, where Tim lounged on a deck chair, watching the boys go wild in the pool.

Lucy dropped the bags and made her way out, walking over to Tim, sitting down with a sigh.

Lucy- We did it. And found plenty for the boys—though they'll probably whine about what I picked.

Tim- Well, that was a bold move.

Lucy gave him a playful nudge and settled in beside him, enjoying the peaceful moment.

Lucy- I know. I wanted to take one or two of them with me, but they didn't want to and said to just get them something.

A few minutes later, Eliana came outside, dressed in her new bikini, looking a little unsure as she approached her mom, tugging at the top.

Eliana- (frowning slightly) Mom, this... feels weird. It's kind of puffy up here.

Lucy glanced over at her, noticing for the first time the soft padding sewn into the top. She smiled, understanding now why Eliana seemed so confused.

Lucy- Oh, I see. That's called padding, sweetie. Some swimsuits have it. It's meant for a little extra coverage.

Eliana- (poking at it) Extra coverage? Why do people need that? It already covers everything.

Lucy chuckled, glancing over at Tim, who was clearly trying to look occupied with his drink but couldn't help listening in.

Lucy- Well, you're right; it does cover things. But the padding is for girls who've started developing breasts—it helps them feel a little more comfortable. Like a little extra layer, especially if the water's cold.

Eliana- (thoughtfully) So... it's for girls who start having boobies, like you?

Lucy stifled a laugh, her eyes twinkling as she glanced over at Tim, who had just about choked on his sip of coffee, coughing to cover up his surprise, as he heard what his seven year old daughter said.

Lucy- (smiling) Yes, well, no, not exactly. Some girls start wearing it when they're older or if they feel like they need it. But you don't really need it yet—unless you want it.

Eliana thought about it for a moment, then looked up at her mom with a small smile.

Eliana- I don't think I want it.

Lucy- (nodding) That's perfectly fine. Let's take it out then.

She carefully slipped the padding out of the top, tucking it away and smoothing the fabric over Eliana's shoulders.

Lucy- There. You look great, just as you are.

Eliana smiled, her earlier hesitation melting away, and bounded off to join her brothers in the pool, her laughter soon echoing with theirs. Lucy settled back, chuckling quietly as she glanced at Tim, who still looked slightly bemused.

As Eliana's laughter joined the chorus of splashes and shouts in the pool, Lucy looked over at Tim, a warm smile playing on her lips. He caught her gaze, shaking his head slightly with an amused, slightly bewildered grin.

Tim- (chuckling) Well, didn't expect to hear her say that over coffee this afternoon.

As they settled back, Lucy couldn't help but notice the look of mild stress still lingering on Tim's face. She stifled a grin, reaching over to give his arm a gentle squeeze.

Lucy- (smirking) You look a little stressed there, hon.

Tim chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck as he let out a long breath, his brow still slightly furrowed.

Tim- (laughing a little) Yeah, well...just wasn't ready to hear "boobies" come up out of nowhere. Where did she even get that word?

Lucy raised an eyebrow, giving him a knowing look, a playful smile tugging at her lips.

Lucy- (grinning) Tim, where do you think she got it from? She's got five older brothers.

Tim laughed, shaking his head in reluctant agreement as he glanced over to see the boys all roughhousing in the pool.

Tim- (sighing) Right. Should've known.

Lucy- (chuckling) I mean, she hears everything they say. We're lucky that's all she's picked up from them so far!

Tim couldn't hold back a grin, and he let out a sigh that seemed to carry the last of his tension with it.

Tim- (relaxing) Well, if I needed a reminder that she's not a baby anymore, that did it. But I'll be honest, I'm still not quite ready.

Lucy laughed, giving him a reassuring nudge.

Lucy- That's alright. We'll tackle these things as they come. Besides, you've done pretty well with all their other questions.

They shared a smile, a comfortable silence falling between them as they watched their children. Finally, Tim let out a contented sigh, leaning back in his chair, his eyes following Eliana as she swam happily with her brothers.
