The warm afternoon sun cast a golden glow over the soccer field as William's team played with full intensity, working together to clinch a win. Eight-year-old William was quick on his feet, dodging players and keeping his focus on the ball, totally in his element. Tim and Lucy cheered him on from the sidelines, a proud grin on Tim's face as he watched his son play.

Nearby, their youngest two, Alexander, six, and Eliana, five, were playing quietly on a blanket. But soon, Eliana's playtime was interrupted by a boy from another family who had wandered over, apparently looking for some mischief.

The boy smirked as he reached out and tugged on one of Eliana's braid, laughing as she whipped around in frustration.

Eliana- (annoyed, pulling back) Hey, stop it! I don't like that!

The boy just laughed, grabbing at her braid again. Eliana looked over to her dad, brows drawn tight.

Eliana- (calling out) Daddy, he won't stop bothering me!

Tim glanced at the boy and gave a quick nod to Eliana, silently reminding her of the boundaries they'd practiced for situations like these. He then made his way over to the boy's parents, who were chatting, unaware of the commotion.

Tim- (firmly, but politely) Excuse me, but your son has been bothering my daughter. Could you ask him to keep his hands to himself?

Parent- (waving him off dismissively) Oh, he's just playing around. Kids will be kids.

Tim- (raising an eyebrow, a little sharper) I get that. But she's asked him to stop. If he doesn't, she'll defend herself. Just letting you know.

The parents brushed him off again, seemingly unbothered, and Tim returned to his spot beside Lucy, shaking his head. Lucy gave him a sympathetic smile, knowing that his warning might soon prove useful.

Lucy- (quietly, with a small smile) They'll learn the hard way.

Eliana, meanwhile, had had enough. When the boy reached out a third time, this time grabbing at her braids with both hands, she balled up her little fist and punched him right in the face, (just as like practiced she might have hit one or the other brother before). The boy yelped in shock and stumbled back, more surprised than hurt.

Boy- (whining loudly) She hit me!

Hearing the commotion, the boy's parents looked over in shock and rushed toward them, fury flashing across their faces as they turned on Tim and Lucy.

Parent- Your daughter just punched our son! That is absolutely unacceptable!

Tim- I warned you. She asked him to stop multiple times, and when he didn't, she defended herself.

Parent- (angry) She can't just go around hitting people! She could've really hurt him!

Lucy- Your son was bothering her, even after she asked him to stop. She has every right to stand up for herself.

Eliana stood confidently beside her parents, arms crossed and head held high. The boy scowled, rubbing his face, while his parents spluttered in frustration.

Tim- Maybe next time, he'll listen when someone says stop. She's just looking out for herself—if he leaves her alone, there won't be any other problems.

The other parents stormed off, muttering under their breaths, while Eliana smiled proudly up at her dad, who gave her a wink and a thumbs-up.

Just then, the referee blew the whistle, signaling the end of William's game. William ran over, grinning ear to ear after his team's win.

William- Did you see me, Dad? I scored the last goal!

Tim- (smiling, ruffling his hair) We sure did! You were amazing out there.

Lucy chuckled, glancing between William and Eliana, who were both still brimming with energy and pride.

Lucy- Looks like we have a couple of champions today, each in their own way.
