It was a scorching summer day, and with Lucy out running errands, Tim was left in charge of all six kids. The thought of hopping in the pool was tempting, but he knew that managing six little ones in the water wasn't the safest idea. So, as he looked around for another way to keep the kids cool and entertained, an idea struck him.

He remembered the giant water slide he had tucked away in the basement—a big one, the one you just put on the ground, he'd picked up last summer and only used once. Tim grinned, already imagining the kids' excitement. After wrestling it up the basement stairs and dragging it to the perfect spot at the very back of the yard, he set it up on the gentle slope there, allowing for a nice, fast slide without the kids getting too wild. A quick connection to the garden hose, and soon, water was gushing down, transforming the slide into a mini water park.

The boys were practically vibrating with excitement, lining up to take turns. One by one, they zoomed down the slide, shouting with joy as they hit the soft landing pad at the bottom. Little Eliana, watching from the sidelines, clapped her hands and looked up at her dad, clearly wanting a turn of her own. Tim, knowing the boys could be a bit, well, enthusiastic, decided he'd take her down himself.

Tim- Alright, Princess, hold tight! We'll take it nice and slow.

He carefully sat down, settling Eliana on his lap, and they slid down at a gentle pace, Eliana squealing with laughter the whole way. It quickly became a family favorite, with the kids rushing up the hill and racing back down over and over, Tim taking Eliana down whenever she asked.

Nearly an hour passed, the yard filled with the sound of laughter and splashing water. By the time Lucy got home, the house was suspiciously quiet. She called out but got no response, so she set down her bags and wandered into the backyard, following the distant sounds of laughter until she spotted her family around the corner.

She stifled a laugh at the sight of Tim, who seemed to be attempting a "superhero" slide, standing as he balanced himself with both arms stretched out, legs slightly bent for balance.

Lucy stood back, watching him playfully showing off to the kids, who cheered him on from the top of the hill. It was actually working, she had to admit—Tim was gliding down, looking fairly triumphant. That is, until Alexander, their three-year-old, decided he wanted his turn now. Unaware of Tim's stunt, Alexander launched himself down the slide, barreling full speed toward his dad.

Lucy's eyes widened as she saw the impending collision, but Tim, noticing at the last second, twisted mid-slide, managing to scoop Alexander up with one arm. He spun, falling to his side to avoid crushing his son, and the two of them slid the rest of the way down together, a tangled but safe pile of arms, legs, and giggles.

Reaching the bottom, Tim looked up to see Lucy, her mouth open in surprise before she burst into laughter.

Lucy- Well, that was quite the show you two put on!

Tim grinned sheepishly, sitting up and brushing some grass off Alexander's wet little head.

Tim- Just teaching him some, uh, stunt safety...right, buddy?

Alexander beamed up at his dad, nodding eagerly.
Alexander- Daddy's fast!

Lucy shook her head, smiling as she came over to see if they were okay.

Lucy- Fast, brave...maybe a little nuts?

Tim chuckled, giving her a wink.
Tim- Guess that's why I'm the one with the moves and you're the one with the, uh...good sense. Usually.

Tim grinned at her, still catching his breath as he adjusted Alexander in his arms.

Tim- Why don't you go change and join us, Ms. Good Sense? It's not a full backyard water park without Mom in the action!

Lucy raised an eyebrow, pretending to consider it.
Lucy- Hmm, let me think... You know what? I think I will.

The kids cheered as she headed inside. She slipped into her bikini, tossing on a tank top and a pair of shorts for a bit of extra coverage, then made a quick stop in the kitchen to grab a few essentials. She scooped up a stack of towels, a few water bottles, and an assortment of snacks before heading back out to rejoin her family.

The moment she appeared, arms full of supplies, a round of little voices cheered in excitement. Tim waved her over to the slide, giving her a quick nod of approval.

Tim- Now that's what I call dedication! Bringing the full spread and everything.

Lucy laughed, setting the snacks down on the blanked Eliana was sitting on.
Lucy- I figured if we're out here, we may as well be out here right.

The kids wasted no time diving for the snacks, their wet hands grabbing crackers and juice boxes between trips up the hill and down the slide.

Tim scooped up Eliana, her little arms reaching eagerly around his neck as he carried her to the top of the slide. Her face lit up with pure joy as they perched at the top together, her tiny giggles bubbling up with excitement.

Tim- Ready, El? Hold on tight!

She clung to him, shrieking with laughter as they zoomed down the slide, her hair bouncing in the warm breeze. The other kids cheered them on, and as soon as they reached the bottom, Eliana pointed back up the hill.

Eliana- Again, Daddy! Again!

With a chuckle, Tim obliged, making a few more rounds down the slide with her, each time her laughter ringing out a little louder. Finally, he settled her on the blanket beside Lucy, tousling her damp hair and pressing a quick kiss to the top of her head.

Tim- Alright, my little daredevil, time for a snack break.

Lucy handed Eliana her juice box, watching as she settled into her spot on the blanket, still giggling from all the fun. Tim flopped down beside her, clearly exhausted but grinning ear to ear.

Lucy- Are you sure she needs a break, or is that just an excuse?

Tim gave her an exaggerated, pleading look, holding his hands up in surrender.

Tim- I don't care if anyone else needs one—I need one, and I'm not ashamed to admit it!

They both burst into laughter, and Lucy leaned against him, feeling the warmth of the sun and the pure joy of the moment. She caught her breath between giggles, giving his shoulder a playful nudge.

Lucy- Well, I guess you earned it, Super Dad.

Tim chuckled, stretching out with a big sigh, reaching for a water bottle.

Tim- I figure I can take at least a five-minute break before she talks me back into another round.

As if on cue, the boys' laughter and playful shouts echoed across the yard, their energy seemingly endless as they raced each other up the hill for another turn on the slide. Tim and Lucy exchanged an amused glance, marveling at the boundless enthusiasm of their little water park crew.

Lucy- Think they'll ever get tired?

Tim- Only if we're really, really lucky.
