You lounged by the pool at your house, the sun warming your skin, when you heard familiar footsteps approaching. A smile spread across your lips as you turned to greet him. "Mr. Cameron, it's not very nice to sneak up on a lady."

Rafe perched himself on the edge of your pool bed, a playful grin lighting up his face. "I'll keep that in mind for next time—if I ever see one."

Rolling your eyes, you feigned annoyance, but your heart raced as Rafe leaned closer, intent clear in his gaze. Just as he seemed about to kiss you, you pressed a finger to his lips, halting him. "Unless you've ended things with Sofia, I'm not interested in being your side piece just because you're horny."

"Who said anything about you being a side piece?" he challenged, his eyes dancing with mischief.

"It doesn't matter. She's too sweet for me to ruin," you shot back, defiance lacing your voice.

"Did you look her up?" Rafe teased, pretending to be innocent as he leaned back slightly. "you are jealous."

"I like the new house." You smirked, shutting your eyes and soaking in the sun. "Funny how you built it right next to mine. Almost like you wanted me to have an easy shot at breaking your heart."

"If that's what it takes to get your full attention, maybe I do," he replied, leaning in once more, their faces inches apart.

Your heart raced, but you held your ground, your voice steady. "I'm not your backup plan, I'm not a home wrecker and I don't do drama. So until you figure things out, I suggest you keep your distance." Her tone was light, but the edge in your words lingered.

"Don't worry, baby. Even if you asked me to, I'm not going anywhere," he said, a confident smirk on his lips.

With a laugh, you playfully pushed him back. "Whatever."

"I wanted to ask—you ever heard of Hollis Robinson?" He shifted, turning the conversation serious.

You purse your lips, thinking. "I think her ex-husband's name came up in my Dad's contracts a few times, but I didn't know much about her until the country club. Why?"

"I met with her last night to discuss a property deal," Rafe replied, his expression serious.

You narrowed your eyes. "And?"

"And I don't know. Someone should have heard something, but nobody I know has heard a thing." He sighed, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees, hands clasped under his chin. "I was all pumped for a second there."

"If nobody's heard anything, then it's gotta be some kind of scam, right?"

"Yeah, maybe."

"How much does she want?"

"400k."

Your eyes widened as you propped yourself up on your elbows. "400k?! What kind of property is this?"

"Some Goat Island development, but I don't really know."

Your brows furrowed in confusion. "Isn't that a bit of a stretch? I mean, a development like that has to be worth hundreds of millions. So why would she come to you?"

Rafe nodded, considering your words. "You're right. She must think I'm stupid or something. I've seen the way they look at me at the club, right? Whispering. I know they say things about me."

You shook your head. "But you don't care about those things. You never did. They can say what they want; you know you're better than them."

Rafe looked at you, gratitude shining in his eyes.

You sat up to face him, playful defiance in your voice. "And they should be glad I don't hear it. Because if I did, I'd have to scratch their eyes out."

He chuckled, his tension easing.

"But I'm glad you're onto her because I don't trust her or this deal."

His eyes narrowed as he leaned in closer. "Oh yeah? I think you're just a little jealous, L/N."

You rolled your eyes, trying to play it cool. "We've had this conversation. I have nothing to be jealous about."

He smirked, catching the hint of your insecurity. "Yeah, you're totally jealous."

With a playful sigh, you replied, "Whatever helps you sleep at night."

"Only if you're there with me," he said, his voice teasing as he lifted his hands to your jawline, grazing your cheeks softly with his thumbs.

You smiled, resting your hands on his arms.

"I'm not an idiot. They think I am, but they'll see how Camerons do business."

"Especially if you have a L/N backing you up," you replied, and his gaze softened at the words.

"I did break things off with Sofia."

"What?" You blinked, taken aback.

"You're the one I wanna be with, so I told her," he declared, his sincerity unmistakable.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Her heart raced, a mix of surprise and exhilaration coursing through your.

"I wanted to see how you really felt about me."

"Ugh, you're such an ass," you said playfully, pushing him down onto the chair and swinging your legs over so you straddled him, your heart pounding.

He looked up at you, a mixture of amusement and admiration in his eyes. "I love you, Y/N L/N," he said earnestly, the weight of his words filling the space between them.

"I love you," you confessed, your voice barely above a whisper. "Are you going to break my heart Rafe Cameron?"

"Never."

In an instant, the playful banter faded away, replaced by an undeniable tension that hung thick in the air. Rafe's hands found your waist, pulling you closer as he leaned in, his lips brushing against yours with a soft urgency. The kiss began gentle, a tentative exploration, but quickly deepened as you responded, your hands threading to his nape.

The world around them melted away; it was just the two of them, caught in a moment that felt both electric and timeless. Rafe's grip tightened on your waist, pulling you closer, as if he were afraid you might slip away. Your heart raced, each beat echoing in your ears as you surrendered to the intensity of his kiss, feeling the warmth radiate between them.

Your lips moved together, a perfect rhythm of passion and desire, as the kiss turned into something more—something urgent and hungry. Rafe's hands roamed along your back, fingers tracing the curve of your spine, igniting a fire within you. You responded by arching your body against him, deepening the kiss as your heart soared, every worry and doubt melting away in the heat of the moment.

With every brush of your lips, every shared breath, you felt yourself falling, the walls you'd built around your heart beginning to crumble. This was no longer just a game; it was real, raw, and utterly consuming. As you finally broke apart, breathless, you looked into Rafe's eyes, your own filled with an undeniable mix of love and longing.

"We should probably finish this inside." You tease as you get off him, moving towards the house. You hear his quickened pace behind you as he scoops you up in his arms. A shriek exiting your lips.
