You pulled up to John B's property, your heart heavy as you took a deep breath, your hand lingering on the car door before you finally got out. You walked slowly up the path, barely noticing the familiar creak of the porch steps beneath your. You reached for the doorknob—only to pause as a voice called out.

"I hope you're looking for me."

Turning, you saw JJ leaning against the porch railing, a faint smile playing on his lips as he flicked away the end of his joint. He straightened, crossing the porch to stand in front of you, his usual bravado softened by something unspoken.

For a long moment, you couldn't find the words. Your eyes filled as you searched his face, desperate for the courage to do what you knew you had to.

"JJ..." you began, your voice wavering.

"I know what you're going to say, Y/N," he interrupted, his voice cracking, though he tried to keep it steady.

You shook your head, brushing your fingers against his cheek, feeling the warmth of his skin, your heart breaking with every touch. "Then let me say it."

You swallowed hard, fighting back the tears that had already started spilling down your cheeks.

"I've been so selfish because I love you. More than I ever thought I could love anyone." Your voice faltered as you blinked back fresh tears. "But we're on different paths right now. And I... I can't do this anymore."

You shook your head, willing yourself to stay strong even as your heart shattered. "It has to be, JJ. Okay? It has to be," you whispered, your voice breaking as your tears flowed freely.

He pulled you into his arms, holding you tightly as you both cried, his chin resting on top of your head as he tried to hold himself together.

You closed your eyes, letting yourself sink into him one last time. Clutching his shirt as if letting go would break you all over again.

And as they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, your tears mingling in a silent goodbye.

You pull away and lean forward to press your lips against his. Fresh tears flowing when you shuts your eyes.

You pull away again and inhale deeply, "I have to go." You whisper.

You take a step back and walk down the porch without looking back, knowing that if you did, you would go back in a heartbeat.

"Hey! No offence but you're wrong."

You freeze mid stride as you put her lips between your teeth to stop them from quivering, "wrong about what?" You ask without looking back at him.

"You're wrong about us being on different paths."

You let out a sigh as you press your hands to your forehead, the tears uncontrollable.

You hear the leaves crunch as his footsteps got closer to you. You turn to him with hesitation, your eyes finding his as he uses the pads of his thumb to wipe the tears away, "we're not on different paths, you're my path Y/N."

You bite your lip nervously as you didn't know what to say.

"You're always going to be my path."

"JJ..." You let out breathlessly.

"And I know there's a million different reasons why we shouldn't be together. I know that. But I'm tired of hearing them...I'm tired of hearing every single one of them. We've all gotta make a choice." He lets out an exhale, "and I choose you. I'm not letting you walk away from me."

You break down in sobs as you wrap your arms around him, hugging him tightly as he did the same.
