JJ sneaks into your room and finds you lying on your bed, curled up, with tears staining your cheeks.
"Are you okay?"
You shake your head, "I'm so stupid, Jayj," you mumble. "The so-called smart girl ends up being really stupid, yet again."
"Hey, you're not stupid," he says softly.
You manage a small, grateful smile as he takes your hand, his thumb gently tracing over your knuckles.
"Looks like you and Kie are headed in the right direction," you murmur, trying to shift the focus.
He smirks. "It's not going to work out."
"Well then," you say, giving a little shrug, "welcome back."
"To where?"
"To the place where it's you and me against the world again."
He lets out a soft chuckle before squeezing your hand and says softly, "It's you and me, Y/N. Always."
You scoot over, making space as he slides under the covers beside you. Resting your head on his chest, you let his warmth and steady presence soothe you as he runs his fingers through your hair. In that moment, you know, no matter what happens, JJ will always be there for you.
