"I must say, what a brilliant speech you gave." The figure spoke up, sitting in the tree directly behind Odysseus.
"Who goes there?" He asked, spinning around in an attempt to catch a glimpse of the person.
"Just a friend, who can help you save your men. A foe like Circe's not to be messed with; you want to beat her you'll need the blessing of a certain god. Divine intervention. Someone who's not afraid to.." they paused. "..send a message.
"Hermes?" He asked and the god only laughed.
"Wouldn't you like a taste of the power? Wouldn't you like to use more than words?" Hermes giggled. "Deep in the night, the fight lasts for hours. You can be hurt or you can beat her."
The god of travel grabbed Odysseus by his arms and pulled him up into the air with him. "Wouldn't you like to have some of the magic? Wouldn't you like your outcome preferred? Deep in the night, the fight can be tragic. I'll help you conquer her."
"She can turn you into an animal that'll end up on her plate." He dropped the mortal, letting him hit the ground with an audible thud. "She can all but make you fall in love like you're on your hundredth date." Hermes winked, grabbing Odysseus by the waist and pulling him close. "She can conjure up a monster that'll grind you to the bones. She has all the ways to haunt you, when you take her on alone."
"Wouldn't you like a taste of the power? Wouldn't you like to use more than words? Deep in the night, the fight lasts for hours. You can be hurt or you can beat her." The god repeated himself, searching for an answer on Odysseus' face. "Wouldn't you like to have some of the magic? Wouldn't you like your outcome preferred? Deep in the night, the fight can be tragic; I'll help you conquer her."
"Here in the root of this flower. There lies such a power to take her on." Hermes pulled a flower, seemingly out of nowhere. "You must consume and digest it. Then you'll manifest a being of your creation. All you need's imagination." He paused, waiting for Odysseus to eat it. "Though it's only for a moment; 'Til you've beaten your opponent."
"And I call this root, holy moly!" The god of thievery laughed, throwing Odysseus into the air.
"Wouldn't you like a taste of the power? Wouldn't you like to use more than words? Deep in the night, the fight lasts for hours. You can be hurt or you can beat her." Hermes pulled him up into the air, tossing him up before catching him again.
"Wouldn't you like to have some of the magic? Wouldn't you like your outcome preferred? Deep in the night, the fight can be tragic. I'll help you conquer her." The god of travel finally set him down in front of Circe's palace.
"Hermes, thank you." Odysseus thanked the god, trying to keep the contents of his stomach down after being thrown around in the air so easily.
"Don't thank me friend; you very well may die." Hermes chuckled before planting a kiss on Odysseus' cheek. "Good luck."
