Drifting apart doesn't necessarily mean
Cutting all your ties with someone
It can be very subtle, like slowly disappearing
From that someone's life
There's suddenly fog where there was once clearing
And I don't know how to calm my rattled breathing
Much less how to close the growing distance
We're drifting apart like ocean waves
Slowly slipping away
Like souls leaving empty bodies in their graves
