Face-off

It was the day of JV/Varsity showdown and the whole school was buzzing. Bryce has been sick for the past two days so Verity hasn't really seen him.

    Whenever she went to see him, Justin would tell her he just fell asleep or was showering. She did leave him some gummies to feel better.

    Aneli was very excited. "Whoever wins, wins." She skipped along. "I'm so excited! We've been training really hard, especially the new guys. You know, with them being freshman and all."

    "This must be a big thing for them then." Verity shrugs and drops her books into her locker. "Remember when we won last year? Rachel hated that."

    Aneli rolled her eyes. "That motherfucking whore. Oops, sorry." Diane appeared next to her with a shocked expression. "Didn't mean you, Didi."

    "Well, I hope not." She shrinked back. "Anyways, good luck in the game, Miss Dior." Diane tells Verity before running over to Mindy and Lucas.

    Verity closes her locker. "Hey, guys." Trey was leaning against the other lockers. "You ready for the game tonight?"

    The three start walking and Trey had his arm around Verity. "Yeah." Verity answered for them. "Who you think is going to win?"

    "I would like JV to win, but it's probably gonna be varsity." Trey confessed. "Especially since Dior here is playing."

    Verity smiled at him. "Thanks, Unions." She shrugged. "I think it'll be close."

    "Welp, here we are." Aneli squeezed between Verity and Trey. "Bye, Trey."

    Verity rolled her eyes slightly. "Neli, not very nice." She hugs Trey bye before going into the class with Aneli.

    "Sorry, Vity." Aneli sits at her desk.

    Verity sits down too. "It's fine, Nells."

    Grane was talking to everyone on the ice. "Okay, so me and your captain here have watched their games and they're good. Good thing we have ex-Duckies and they know how JV plays."

Everybody looked at Verity, Skills, Bryce, and Zach. Bryce said he was fine with playing. "Okay, so the captains will take the face-off, Miss Dior on right, Wolfman on left, Yates and Taylor on defense. Got it?" Kevin looked at everyone.

    "Quack, quack, quack!" The team cheered as everyone went to their places.

    Verity waited for who she would be blocking. "Go Duckies!" JV cheered before getting on the ice. "Hey."

    "Hi, Josue." Verity got ready. "No hard feelings, please."

    Josue laughs. "Of course not, V. It's just a game." The puck drops and Kevin got it. Verity and Josue go after the puck.

    Kevin skates around with before passing to Zach. Zach passes it back to Bryce. Bryce gets it taken by Aneli.

    Aneli has it now and goes towards varsity's goal. Verity gets it and wraps around the goal. She skates down to center ice before passing it to Skills.

    She got checked by Mindy. Mindy gives her an apologetic look before skating away. Skills gets his goal blocked by Matthew.

    They did the face off again. Bryce steals the puck, again. It was a piece of cake. He goes to the other side and passes it to Verity, who was going to make a goal but someone checked her in the boards. Bryce checks the player who checked Verity.

He turns around and helps her up. "Thanks, Bryce."

"No problem, honey." His smile faded when JV made a goal.
