Verity was with Aneli and Lucas when Matt came up to her. "Uh, V, there's someone wanting to talk with you in the office." Matt was confused. "Says he won't leave until he does."
"Okay, I'll go right now." Verity gets up. "See you guys later. And Lucas, I say go for it. I have Sandy in history and she's a sweet girl."
Verity and Matt go into the office. "Dude is right down the hall. I have to go see Zach." Matt leaves and Verity goes down the hall.
"No, I have a right to see her!" She recognized the voice. "Viv, tell them I have a right to see her! Shes my daughter for fucks sake."
Verity stopped at the doorway. "Dad?" Dean Portman turned around. "Dad!" She ran over and hugged him.
"Hi to you too, Verity." Vivienne Astor folds her arms at her daughter. Verity waves to her. "Well, your father insisted on seeing you as soon as he could."
Dean let go of his daughter. "You say it like it's a bad thing."
"You got security called on us because you were acting like a big baby." Vivienne shot back.
Dean was going to say a smart retort when Verity stopped them. "Mom, dad, stop it."
Vivienne looked at the time. "Well, the bell is gonna ring and we have to go look at properties." She pulled Portman's arm. "Let's go."
"You're gonna get a house in Minnesota?" Verity chirped up. "That'll be so cool."
Vivienne shoots her a look. "V, no. You're only in Eden Hall for education. If you start slacking off because your dad is here, I'll send you to St. John's with Hazel, Penelope, and Jacques up in Winnipeg."
"I'll keep them up." Verity agreed. She loves her cousin but going to school with them meant living with them and she didn't know if she could do that.
Vivienne gives her a small look. "We'll see. Portman, that's not yours!" She walks down the hall and Verity took that as her sign to leave.
Aneli was outside the office. "What happened?"
"My dad got outta jail, my mom is his parole officer, and i got threaten to be sent to Canada if my grades slipped. Nothing outta the ordinary." Verity shrugged her shoulders, walking down the corridor with her best friend.
Aneli walks with her. "That's, uh, something. Anyways, has Carlisle asked you to prom yet? We need to start buying dresses and coordinate our outfits together."
"Nells, prom is a million months away-"
"Actually, it's five months, three weeks, four days, and thirteen hours away."
"-Still a long time." Verity says. "Besides I told you, I'm not going to prom."
Aneli groans. "Come on, Vity! You have to go to prom, you could go with someone as friends. Like Damian, or-or Keenan."
"Keenan looks too much like my siblings dad and Damian is, well, Damian." The two turn the corner.
Right into Clara and Caroline Velez. "Fancy seeing you, girls." Clara smiles at them, her white teeth shining.
"Hey, velez." Aneli says to them.
Caroline turns to Verity. "Girl to girl, my sister is planning on asking your friend to prom."
Verity sighs, annoyed. "Is it Corinne to Bryce?"
"Cam to Trey actually." Caroline kindly corrects her and Verity's face drops. "Corinne is waiting until after break to ask Banks."
Verity looks too much Aneli. "The girl he told me not to worry about. Thanks, Caroline. Now, if you excuse me, I have to go make a scene."
"Nice seeing you two!" Aneli tells them before jogging after Verity.
Freddie sees them marching down the hall. "What happened to you two?"
"Velez." Verity spits out before continuing her walk. She goes into the courtyard, looking for Trey or Camryn. She didn't see either of them. "Dj, where's Trey?"
Demarcus looks at her. "Haven't seen him. Ask Fred or Keenan. Maybe even try Nate."
"Got it, thanks." She turned and started to roam the halls, Aneli stopped following her after a while.
She found Nate smoking in a corner with Skills and Diane. "What up, V." Nate blows out the smoke. "What you need?"
"Where's Trey?" She went straight to the point.
Skills shrugged. "Try the library. He seemed to spend a lot of time there."
"'Kay, thanks." Verity turned around towards the library. When she gets there, she browses the rows, looking for the curly-head.
"Fuck it, why not." She hears the sound of Trey's voice.
Verity turns the corner and saw both Trey and Camryn Velez standing there. Camryn was smiling big and Trey was looking at her.
"Thought you needed longer than three days to get over me." Verity says. "Because If I recall, you were begging for me to tale you back yesterday after dinner."
Camryn and Trey turns around. "I'm over you now." Trey says. To Verity it sounded like he was reassuring himself. "You mad I got a prom date?"
Verity shakes her head. "Proud actually. Didn't think anyone would ask you, to be honest. Guess the world is full of surprises."
Camryn grabs his hand. "I don't want this to get out of hand. See you, Verity. C'mon, Trey, let's go." She drags him away.
Verity watches them leave. "They both can't do better." Zach came out of nowhere.
"Thanks, Z." Verity smiles at the taller boy. "So, who you going with for prom?"
He shrugged. "Thinking about going as a group with Nate, Matt, Lucas, and Damian. You?"
"Not going." Verity shrugged back.
"Shocker. I was expecting a Bryce Banks moment or a little Carlisle Velez moment." Zach admits.
Verity gave a small airy chuckle. "I've been told that. Maybe my mind will change when the day comes around. Besides, I still have five months, three weeks, four days, and-" she looks at the clock on the wall. "-twelve hours until prom."
"How do you know exactly when?" Zach looked at her.
Verity gives him a look back. "My best friend is Aneli Moreau, what else do you need to know?"
"Point taken." Zach gives a small laugh.
