Troubles

"Shit!" Aneli got the puck stolen from her. Josue chased it down as the clock was ticking.

Verity watched anxiously and groaned as the other team broke the tie. "Damn it." She said as the clock hit zero and varsity lost.

    The other team cheered as Whitey called in his team. "Good effort." He managed to smile before sending them to do the handshake.

    After the handshakes, they went into the lockers all tense. "I feel like we hitting the field next practice." Skills took off his jersey.

"Maybe." Diane sighed.

Sean rubbed his head. "Have some faith." Everyone looked at him. "Just trying to be optimistic."

Lucas sat down. "Well stop."

Verity was sitting on a bench outside of Diane's, Aneli's, Bryce's, Skills, and Nathan's philosophy class.

    "Greetings, Verity." She heard her name and looked up from the homework she was doing.

    It was Carlisle.

    "Hey, Velez." Verity replied to the taller boy. "What brings you 'round here?"

    He takes the seat next to her. "My sisters, Clara and Caroline, are in that class. I'm waiting."

    Verity completely forgot about the fifth Velez sibling. "Oh. I'm just waiting for my friends." She saw him looking down at her homework. "Figured i would get some homework done in the meantime."

    "Pardon me for intruding, but aren't you normally with your boyfriend at this time?"

    Verity grumbled at that. "Well, he's too busy with your lovely sister Camryn." She put her homework away.

    "You don't like that." Carlisle read her face. "Don't you?" Verity shook. "Camryn isn't the type to go take a taken man."

    Verity looked at him. "Oh, I forgot that's more of Corinne's style."

Carlisle gave her a cautious glance. "Right. Don't dwell on it too much." He put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Cori and Cam will back up soon."

The door flew open and a bunch of kids came out. Clara was the first one out. "Hey, Lisle." She smiled at him. A girl that looks like her, presumably Caroline, was behind her. "And hello, Verity."

"Yo, yo, V girl." Skills looked over and came closer with the others. "'Sup, Velez's."

Caroline waved. "Hey, Taylor." She sounded almost like Camryn. "Hey, Ducks."

The varsity kids said hi back to her. "What you doing with Carlisle, sweetie?" Banks folded his arms. Nathan and Skills gave a little look at him.

"None of your business, Banks." Verity answered him and his eyes widened a bit.

Aneli pulled up her best friend. "Nice seeing you guys, but we have to go." She strolled off with the Varsity girls. "Bye, Bryce and Nathan and Skills and Carlisle and Clara and Caroline."

"What was that!?" Diane smacked Verity in the arm when they got to the courtyard.

Verity smacked her back. "What are you talking about?"

"You never talk to Bryce like that." Aneli added. "But since you've met Carlisle you've started. Not to mention you've been avoiding Trey, ever since he started to tutor Cam."

Verity rolled her eyes and took a seat at the fountain. "No I haven't." She lied. She had tried to avoid both Trey and Bryce because of the Velez's.
