The car hurtled down the dimly lit road, the night shrouded in an uneasy silence. Woozi’s knuckles were white against the steering wheel, tension coiling in the air. Hoshi, seated beside him, could feel the weight of impending doom pressing down on them. They were on their way to the Songdo base, a place that had become a fortress but felt more like a ticking time bomb.
“Something doesn’t feel right,” Hoshi murmured, glancing out the window at the shadows creeping alongside them.
Jun tightened his grip. “We’ve been through worse. Just stick to the plan.”
As they arrived at the base, Hoshi and Jun stepped out, a feeling of dread washing over them. The usually bustling environment was eerily quiet, the darkness swallowing any signs of life.
“I’ll go check the perimeter,” Hoshi said, ran instinctively reaching for his gun, only to find it missing. “What the—?”
“Mine too,” Jun replied, rifling through his own pockets. They both stood frozen, realization crashing over them like a wave. Yuri had taken their weapons earlier, claiming it was too dangerous. “Damn it. We should’ve been more careful.”
Just then, a sudden movement in the shadows caught their attention. Before they could react, a group of masked attackers surged from the darkness, knives glinting menacingly.
As Woozi parked the car, the sound of the explosion shattered the night, a deafening roar that sent a shockwave through the air. The flames surged like a monster unleashed, engulfing the cars near him. Woozi’s heart raced as he turned to the scene unfolding around him.
“Fuck..!” he yelled, scrambling from the car just as another explosion rocked the ground beneath him, sending debris hurtling into the air. The smoke thickened rapidly, swirling like a tempest, obscuring their escape.
“Get back!” Jun shouted, shoving Hoshi out of the way as the first assailant lunged at him. He dodged, the blade slicing through the air where he had just stood. Hoshi sprang into action, throwing a punch that landed solidly on the attacker’s jaw, but the man barely flinched.
They fought back-to-back, throwing punches and dodging blades, but the assailants were relentless. The sounds of flesh meeting flesh echoed in the night, accompanied by grunts and shouts. Jun felt a sharp pain as a knife plunged into his side, blood spilling from the wound. He stumbled, but Hoshi caught him.
“Stay up!” Hoshi urged, his own body betraying him as another knife found its way into his abdomen. Pain shot through him, blurring his vision.
“Can’t…hold on…” Jun gasped, collapsing to his knees. Blood pooled around him, the cold earth soaking it up like a sponge.
“jun!” Hoshi shouted, desperation flooding his voice. But with each passing moment, their strength dwindled. They were outnumbered and outmatched. A blur of faces and fists surrounded them, but their strength was failing.
As the last of their energy waned, they found themselves on the ground, panting and bleeding, the world around them becoming a kaleidoscope of red and black. Just then, the sound of an explosion echoed in the distance, shaking the ground beneath them.
Jun and Hoshi looked toward the base, their hearts sinking as they saw flames licking up toward the night sky, illuminating the chaos around them. Smoke billowed out, thick and black, swallowing the stars above. As they both closed their eyes their life drained out.
Woozi who was running away from the parking lot the ground shook violently beneath him. The explosion blasted him backward like a mere speck of dust, sending him tumbling across the pavement. For a moment, everything went quiet except for the crackling of flames and the distant sounds of chaos.
