It was Nezu's idea—after all, Monoma had made more than enough remarks about Class 1-A being "mediocre." Swapping Monoma with Koda was meant to be a character-building exercise, but it also had an unintended edge. Koda's shyness was the perfect cover, and Nezu thought this switch could coax him out of his shell. A win for both, if things went smoothly.

On his second day with Class 1-A, Monoma was already feeling out of place. He wasn't used to the way this class interacted. Sure, they had fierce rivalries and loud personalities, but there was also an unspoken trust that left him feeling like an outsider. That day, the two classes clashed in training, Class 1-A against Class 1-B. Monoma tried to keep his head clear, but he hadn't been feeling right since that morning.

Itsuka was the only one who noticed. As Monoma leaned against a wall, his breaths quick and shallow, she recognized the tell-tale signs—pale skin, distant eyes. But Monoma waved her off. He knew he had to fight to keep up appearances. In battle, weakness wasn't an option.

He found himself facing Bakugo, who was already going off, yelling and throwing small explosions as he fought off other members of Class 1-B. Steeling himself, Monoma took a breath, carefully walking up to Bakugo. He needed Bakugo's power if he wanted any chance of defending his classmates. "Let me borrow your quirk," he said. "I'll just use it to—"

"Copycat, get lost! I don't want some second-rate imitation ruining my attacks!" Bakugo yelled, his hands sparking with more explosions.

"Fine! We can both use it—just let me touch your hand!" Monoma snapped, trying to keep his nerves under control. He reached out, but the adrenaline was fading, and his world started tilting. He was aware of Bakugo's sneering grin, but he couldn't focus anymore. Suddenly, everything went dark.

Two minutes passed before Bakugo realized something was wrong. "Oi! Copycat's down!" he shouted, unsure of what to do as he signaled for help.

They took him to Recovery Girl, where he woke up to the quiet of the infirmary and Recovery Girl handing him a juice box. He took small sips, his hands shaking. The embarrassment of fainting gnawed at him. He'd never live this down.

Three days later, Monoma returned to Class 1-A. He could feel everyone's stares, hear their whispers. His confidence started to slip, his usual pride shrinking into something smaller. When Bakugo walked in with a smug smirk, Monoma could feel the words ready to cut.

"Well, look who we've got here—the weakling himself," Bakugo said, sneering.

Monoma turned his head, trying to ignore it. This wasn't him—he didn't back down. But shame had taken over, and the other whispers in the class didn't help. Days passed with the same taunts, and Monoma's motivation crumbled.

He started skipping class, hiding out, ignoring even Itsuka's concerned texts. When Aizawa finally tracked him down, he found Monoma in his dorm, shoulders hunched, eyes tired. "Monoma, you've been skipping class," Aizawa stated.

Monoma's voice was barely a whisper. "I'm pathetic," he admitted. "Bakugo makes fun of me, and the others just talk behind my back. They're right. I'm weak."

Aizawa was silent for a moment before he spoke. "That's not weakness, Monoma. They don't know what it's like to live with a condition like yours. They only see what's on the surface."

After a long conversation, Aizawa talked to the teachers. Monoma was allowed back to Class 1-B, and Koda returned to Class 1-A. When he stepped into his old classroom, he expected the usual noise—but instead, his classmates were thrilled to have him back, saying the room had been "boring without his constant banter."

For the first time, Monoma felt like he didn't need to prove himself. As he glanced at his classmates, he realized he didn't need Class 1-A's approval to feel strong. He was already strong where it mattered—right here, with his own friends who knew him for who he was.
