Sick: Izuku
Caretaker: BakugoIzuku hadn't smoked in months. He'd promised himself he was done. After everything with the internships, the training, and the constant push toward being the greatest hero, he'd quit cold turkey. But there was something about the way that open pack had been lying on the balcony, its familiar crumpled paper and acrid scent taunting him in the cool morning breeze, that made him slip. One cigarette wouldn't hurt, right?
As he entered the common room later, the smell of smoke lingered around him, faint but unmistakable. Izuku felt lightheaded, the world around him slightly blurred, as if he was moving through water. He shuffled towards the couch, trying to stay steady.
Bakugo noticed the shift immediately. He looked up from his spot on the couch, eyes narrowing as Izuku sat down next to him, breathing a little too shallowly. The faint but sharp scent of smoke filled the air, setting Bakugo on edge.
"Deku," Bakugo muttered, his voice low and suspicious, "you smell like smoke." He glanced at Izuku, eyes sharp as he took in the way his boyfriend's eyes seemed glazed, unfocused. "What the hell's going on? Thought you quit."
"I... I did," Izuku mumbled, averting his gaze. "I'm fine, Kacchan. It was... just one." But as he spoke, his stomach churned, and he felt a cold sweat start to form. He swallowed hard, his mouth dry, before the queasiness overwhelmed him. Without another word, he pushed himself up, rushing toward the bathroom as his head spun.
Bakugo, not missing a beat, followed him. He caught up as Izuku hunched over the sink, gripping it tightly, his knuckles white.
"What the hell, Deku?" Bakugo demanded, crossing his arms. "You promised you were done with this crap."
Izuku sighed, closing his eyes as he struggled to steady himself. "I'm sorry, Kacchan," he whispered, the words heavy with shame. "I didn't mean to... I just saw the pack out there on the balcony. It was just there, and I... I couldn't help it."
Bakugo's expression softened, just a little. He reached out, resting a firm hand on Izuku's shoulder, squeezing gently. "You're an idiot," he muttered, but his voice was gentle. "One slip doesn't make you weak, you know that?"
Izuku managed a weak nod, his body still trembling slightly. The dizziness hadn't gone away, and his stomach still twisted uncomfortably.
"C'mon," Bakugo said, guiding him out of the bathroom. "Let's get you to bed. You look like you're about to pass out."
Izuku let Bakugo lead him back to his room, sinking into his bed gratefully. His head still spun, and his body felt heavy, weighed down by the dizziness and the remnants of smoke still clinging to his senses.
Bakugo stayed by his side, settling into the chair beside the bed. He didn't say anything, just kept his gaze on Izuku, his expression a mix of worry and frustration. After a few moments of silence, he reached out, brushing a strand of green hair off Izuku's forehead.
"You're better than this, you know," Bakugo muttered, voice softer than Izuku had ever heard. "Just... next time you feel like you need that, come find me, alright?"
Izuku nodded, feeling a faint smile tug at his lips. "Yeah. Thanks, Kacchan."
Bakugo didn't answer, but he stayed there the rest of the day, making sure Izuku had water and was comfortable, his presence a steady reassurance by his side. And Izuku, despite the lingering dizziness, felt a little lighter knowing Bakugo was there.
