April 23, 2018, St. Mary's Hospital, London

It was a bright spring morning in London, and excitement filled the air at Kensington Palace. Matilda and her siblings, George and Charlotte, were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new baby brother. Kate had gone into labor, and the children had been buzzing with anticipation all morning.

As they waited, Matilda couldn't help but feel a twinge of pride. She understood enough to know that even though she now had a younger brother, she wouldn't lose her place in line to the throne. Thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013, she would remain ahead of him, a historic first for the British royal family.

"Mum said the rules used to be different," Matilda explained to Charlotte, who looked up at her with wide eyes. "Before, boys would always go before girls for the throne."

Charlotte tilted her head, thinking. "But that's not fair."

Matilda shrugged. "I guess they changed it before George was born so that we'd all have the same chance, no matter if we're boys or girls."

George, listening in, chimed in with a grin. "Does that mean you'll be Queen one day, Matilda?"

Matilda laughed, the idea sounding like a fairy tale. "Maybe! But for now, let's just worry about meeting baby Louis."

Later that day, William arrived to take them to the hospital. As they made their way through the halls of St. Mary's, the excitement built, and Matilda found herself wondering what her new little brother would be like. She was used to being the oldest and taking care of George and Charlotte, and now she'd have another little sibling to look out for.

As they entered the room, Matilda's heart swelled at the sight of her mother, cradling a tiny, sleeping bundle. Prince Louis. He was small, with a peaceful expression, and as she gazed at him, she felt an instant connection.

"Hello, Louis," she whispered softly, brushing a finger across his tiny hand. To her surprise, his fingers curled around hers, and a wave of warmth filled her heart.

Charlotte giggled beside her. "He's so small! Do you think he'll like playing with us when he gets bigger?"

"Of course he will," George said confidently. "He's one of us."

William put an arm around Matilda, his eyes twinkling with pride. "You'll all be a great big brother and sisters to him. Louis is very lucky to have you."

The following days were filled with joy as the family settled into life with baby Louis. The press was abuzz with the news, especially with the historic implications of Matilda's place in line.

ROYAL BABY NEWS: IT'S A BOY!!

April 23, 2018

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce the birth of their son, Prince Louis Arthur Charles, born at 11:01 a.m. today at St. Mary's Hospital. Both mother and baby are doing well, and the Duke and Duchess are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from the public. Prince Louis is fifth in line to the throne, following his older siblings Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Princess Matilda.

This birth marks a special moment in royal history, as Princess Matilda becomes the first female royal to retain her position in line to the throne, ahead of her younger brother, thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013.
