May 19, 2018, St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle

The day of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding dawned bright and clear, with thousands of people flocking to Windsor to catch a glimpse of the happy couple. Inside the chapel, Matilda, her siblings, and her parents waited in anticipation. The grandeur of the chapel, with its towering stained glass windows and historical ambiance, made Matilda feel like she was in a storybook.

Matilda, wearing a lovely Victoria Beckham dress that she had chosen with her mother's help, felt both excited and a little nervous. She knew this was a big day, and she wanted to be on her best behavior for Uncle Harry and his new bride. However, she couldn't shake a small feeling of unease about Meghan, something she had confided to her mother but kept to herself today.

As Matilda walked down the aisle beside her younger siblings, George and Charlotte, she held Charlotte's hand tightly. She had promised to look after her little sister, and as a proud big sister, she did her best to keep Charlotte smiling.

The ceremony was beautiful, filled with music, tradition, and powerful words. The trumpet fanfare resounded throughout the chapel as Meghan, radiant in her Givenchy gown, made her entrance. Her boat-neck dress was simple yet elegant, perfectly complimented by Queen Mary's diamond bandeau tiara that sparkled under the lights. Matilda admired the gown but couldn't help feeling it looked rather plain compared to what she had imagined.

Watching the ceremony unfold, Matilda occasionally glanced over at her parents. Her mother, dressed elegantly in a light-colored dress, smiled warmly, while her father's face beamed with pride. Uncle William seemed particularly delighted for his brother, often leaning over to share a quiet joke with Harry.

The gospel choir's rendition of Stand By Me was captivating, and Matilda found herself humming along softly. She noticed that her parents, along with the other guests, were visibly moved by the heartfelt performance. It was a unique touch to the traditional ceremony, and Matilda could sense how special it was, even if it wasn't quite the royal standard she was used to.

After the ceremony, there was a joyful reception where everyone gathered to celebrate the new couple. Although Meghan's friend Jessica Mulroney held the bouquet, Matilda still felt proud to have been part of the bridal party. She did her best to be kind to the other children, but she felt a bit out of place with some of Meghan's American friends and their kids. Jessica Mulroney's son, a charming and mischievous boy, tried to make conversation with her, but Matilda wasn't interested, preferring to stay close to her siblings and cousins.

As the newlyweds stepped out onto the chapel steps and shared a sweet, simple kiss, the crowd outside erupted in cheers. Matilda could see her parents exchanging glances and smiling, likely remembering their own wedding day. For Matilda, the day was filled with new experiences and some challenging feelings, but it was a moment of learning, a memory she knew would last a lifetime.
