Chapter 20 - The Confrontation

This week has been an emotional one. Karina and Reina were devastated. Karina in particular found it hard to cope with their father's death because of the guilt she felt. She broke down on us, which scared the hell out of me. I never want to feel what I felt when she was missing again. My heart felt like it was about to explode and my mind was so full of things I couldn't think straight. She looked so fragile and weak. 

"Louis you ready?" Harry says walking into the room buttoning his dark blue shirt. I roll over to face him making everything in my body hurt. 

"No I'm not." I mumble into my pillow. He looks at me and raises an eyebrow. 

"Whats wrong mate?" 

"I feel absolutely retched. I think I've caught a cold." Harry grins and shakes his head. 

"Well you're not the only one. Reina just called to say that Karina is sick and won't be coming with us. I guess you aren't either." I sit up on the bed and smile to myself remembering when I had her in my arms. "Well then can you drop me off at Sophia's?"

"Sure but you best get dressed. Josh already called asking where we were." Harry says leaving the room. 

"Right." I get up slowly and get dressed. I pick up my phone and dial Karina's number. 

"Hello" she says in her usual soothing voice. 

"Hey, Harry told me you're sick. I guess that makes two of us. How you feeling?"

"I feel horrible but not because of my cold. I got you sick."

"Yeah, but trust me it was worth it." Karina laughs nervously. "I'm coming over and we'll watch movies all night until the guys return. Sound good?"

I can hear her smiling through the phone. "Yeah, sounds great."

The girls are at the door when we get to Sophia's. They all look beautiful in their dresses and heels. By the looks on the lads faces they think so too. 

"Hey Lou, how you feeling?" Reina asks me just as Kari comes out. She sees me and smiles. 

"Much better now." Kari blushes and bites her bottom lip. Oh how I long to feel those sweet lips on mine. 

"Well then we best get going." Liam says opening the car door so the girls can go in. As soon as they're all in the car they drive off. I turn around and kiss Karina on the cheek. 

Her smile gets even bigger. "Come on it's freezing out here." She opens the door fully letting me inside. The warmth of the house makes the hairs on my arms stand up. She's wearing a yellow jumper and really short shorts that make her legs look so long and tempting. I swallow hard and rip my eyes off her legs. "Where is Sophia?"

She looks nervous all of a sudden. "Oh um, she's visiting a friend. She'll be back tomorrow."

"So you were going to stay here alone?" The thought of it makes me uneasy. She nods silently. "Good thing I decided to come over then."

"Yeah, good thing." She smirks and we head to the living room. 

"Oh you know my mother called said they'd be coming on Christmas day instead of tomorrow. The twins are sick so they rather not travel."

"Oh, that's too bad, I hope they get well soon." 

"I'll tell them you said that. They are so excited to see everyone and to meet you...and Reina and Cleo."
