Chapter 1066 - Crossed The Bottomline Too Far

"How is she?!" Jiyong asked, no, demanded while barrelling towards where his sister was lying asleep on the bed.

The doctor couldn't help but step back in fear at the huge man's threatening aura. However, her professionalism still won over her nerves. "S-sir...p-please be quiet! The madam needs to rest!"

Jiyong looked like he wanted to beat up someone into a pulp but still forced himself to calm down. His dark eyes darted over his extremely pale sister. He relaxed a little after seeing that she was still breathing. However, his bloodthirsty aura continued to emanate from him, causing everyone in the room except for Lisa to shiver.

Jae shoved more of Jennie's chocolates inside his mouth as a way to cope with the tense atmosphere while V stared wide-eyed and wide-mouthed at what seemed to be an unfamiliar Jiyong.

As for Lisa, he had already gradually gotten used to his brother-in-law's murderous vibes especially after reading the Vetrov report many times. He wasn't completely immune but at least his instincts wouldn't always go into fight or flight mode every time his brother-in-law unleashed his bloodthirst. It also helped that Luka updated him on a regular basis about his work at Shadow Winds. All of these contributed to desensitizing him towards his brother-in-law's cruel side.

After regaining control of his wild emotions, Jiyong stood beside the seated Lisa by Jennie's bed. He didn't touch his sister, only looked at her.

Lisa observed his brother-in-law's eyes becoming several degrees gentler after looking at Jennie. He could relate.

"She okay?"

"En." Lisa lifted his wife's hand and kissed her palm before rubbing it gently to warm it up.

"The babies?"

"Okay, too."

Jiyong released a huge sigh of relief. Lisa gave him a brief summary of what the doctor said about Jennie needing a complete bed rest for at least half a month to stabilize the babies in her womb.

"Good. Keep her in bed rest until she gives birth. That would be safer."

"I agree," Lisa murmured.

The two heard a loud snort. They turned their heads and saw that it was V.

"Good luck with that," V told them. "I've experienced working with Ruby—"

"Call her Sister-in-law," Lisa corrected his younger brother.

"Sister Ruby," V said instead, reverting to how he usually called her. "Well, as I was saying, I've experienced working with her several times now and will work more closely in the future since we established our own company together, JLV Studio. I know that Sister Ruby is not the type to idle around. She'll surely rebel if you force her into bed rest for longer than what the doctor recommended."

Jae nodded and finished swallowing the bite of chocolate he just ate before speaking. "Boss will indeed react like that. I think that it's better for us to follow what the doctor recommends. Boss hates it whenever she feels like her freedom is being restricted."

Lisa and Jiyong had similar expressions. They both looked torn. On one hand, they wanted to lock up Jennie at home where it was safe until she gave birth. And on another hand, they didn't want to trigger her past life's trauma of feeling caged.

In the end, Lisa could only give in. "Fine. We'll follow exactly what the doctor recommends."

Jiyong harrumphed but didn't object. He walked towards the window and half-sat on the sill. He crossed his muscled arms over his wide chest. His relaxed posture was deceptive. Lisa noticed his brother-in-law's alert eyes peeking through the gap between the curtains and window to the ground outside like a hunter observing his prey.

The doctor looked pleased now that Lisa announced that they would follow her exact recommendations. Then she asked, "Would you like me to check your injuries?"

"Later. I'll need you to write up a medical certificate to prove these injuries for the police."

"No problem, sir. Please excuse me first. I need to speak with the hospital director to communicate our request on how this place should handle Madam Manoban's stay here."

"En."

The doctor left.

"Big Bro, how did you get your injuries?" V asked. "Did Diana and her minions beat you up? You're a black-belter in karate. How could you allow yourself to be beaten up just like that?"

"I beat him up," Jiyong said before Lisa could reply.

"Eh?" V was confused.

Jae choked on a piece of chocolate and began coughing. V hit his back a few times and handed him a bottle of water.

"Ah, how dangerous!" Jae said, tapping his chest. "My handsome and beautiful self almost croaked my last breath!" Then he looked at Jiyong. "Big Bro Boss! How could you beat up sir boss?! Did you two fight? That's not good! You two should be teaming up together against that Rafflesia Diana Young Arnoldii and not fighting each other!"

"Who's fighting each other?" a faint whisper asked but it was like the sweetest thunderclap to everyone's ears.

"Love, you're awake!" Lisa sprang up from his seat.

Jennie's eyes fluttered open. She looked dazedly at the ceiling for a few seconds before turning her gaze on her husband.

"Lisa...."

"Yes, I'm here."

Her hand that he was holding gave him a weak squeeze. "You're injured."

"I'm fine." He lifted her hand and kissed it several times. "Don't worry about me because I'm not. I'm more worried about you."

Tears sparkled in her eyes. "I'm sorry...."

He frowned. "For what?"

"I endangered our babies."

"It's not your fucking fault," Jiyong interrupted. "So don't apologize."

"En," Lisa agreed. "It's our fault. We tried to conceal the details of our plan from you."

"The hell it's our fault! It's that fucking nympho's fault!" Then Jiyong murmured in a voice so low that only Jennie heard him, "I'll kill her."

Jennie didn't say anything about her brother's intent to murder this time. She felt too upset and furious at what Diana did tonight not only to her husband but to their whole family. She almost lost her babies!

Perhaps if she really miscarried, Jennie would feel even more murderous than her brother right now. That Diana had crossed her bottomline too far!
