Chapter 1094 - Animals

The teenage-looking man looked bored at Lisa's lack of reaction. He no longer pursued the topic and led Lisa farther down the narrow corridor. They entered a surveillance control room.

Lisa immediately saw on the monitors that Geo Manoban, his daughter Jane, and his wife were being kept in three separate holding cells. The teenage-looking man gave an instruction to one of his team members manning this surveillance station. In just a few clicks, all the monitors showed the cell where Geo was being kept from different angles.

His father's cousin looked haggard while sitting listlessly on a metal bed with no sheets or pillows. There were no other furniture besides the bed. Geo didn't appear to be injured, surprising Lisa. He had thought that Shadow Winds would torture the man as a means to get information out of him. It seemed that he was wrong.

He also noticed that the corners of the room were rounded. Even without anyone explaining it to him, he understood that it must be to prevent the captive from self-harming or committing suicide using the sharp angles of traditional corners in a room. His brother-in-law really had thought of everything when converting this old, abandoned warehouse property into his group's headquarters.

"He looks fine," Lisa commented.

"Hehe." The teenage-looking man gave an evil chuckle. "Physically that is."

"Ah." Lisa immediately understood what he meant. He looked at his uncle again. Indeed, Geo looked physically alright but his dull expression looked like he already died inside. There was no need for the teenage-looking man to tell Lisa that they had put Geo through mental torture.

Lisa didn't know what specific kind of mental torture they did on Geo but just by looking at his traitor of an uncle, he could deduce that the torture must have been more sinister than any common physical torture that he could imagine.

Physical torture used pain to destroy a person's resolve and traumatize the mind while mental torture's aim was to completely destroy the mind, rendering the tortured person into something akin to a soulless vessel. The worst and the most brutal was a combination of physical and mental tortures.

"He still has some fight in him," the teenage-looking man said. "I haven't put him through the worst yet. I just put the fear in him first."

The man handed Lisa a document containing a concise report of what Geo confessed under torture so far. Lisa's hand tightened on the paper, almost crumpling it.

He already knew that Geo schemed with Romeo Young to usurp Manoban Corporation. It wasn't only the company that they wanted to snatch. Everything the Manoban clan owned, they wanted to take. Even the wealth and properties owned by his grandmother and mother that legally had nothing to do with the Manoban clan were targeted by them.

Their greed angered him, of course, but these alone weren't enough to make Lisa want to rush inside the holding cell and beat the damn traitor to death. He read the short paragraph in the report again to make sure that he wasn't imagining things. It said:

"A plan to kidnap and gang-rape Jennie Kim is in the works. The deed will be recorded and spread to the media and internet to humiliate her, and therefore, make her unworthy of her title as the new Madam Manoban, wife of Lisa Manoban who is the current head of the Manoban clan. She won't be killed until she becomes pregnant and gives birth to one of her rapists' bastard child. By that point, even the Kim clan won't dare step in to help her as the Kims have always been concerned about losing face."

Lisa tore the document into pieces. "Animals!"

His eyes turned red and wild. He was like a savage beast ready to tear the throats of foolish intruders in his territory.

"How dare they?! To my wife!"

He glared at the monitors showing Geo. Any mercy remaining in him on account of their blood relations was completely extinguished after reading their evil plan to violate his beloved wife. They had crossed his bottomline too far! Hatred filled him at the sight of Geo Manoban.

Geo and his branch family were the first ones to disregard their familial relations. Lisa already showed them mercy by disowning them from the clan and firing them from their comfortable positions in the company. Instead of learning their lessons, they harboured a deep grudge against him and even planned on using his wife to commence their unjustified revenge.

'Grandfather, Father, don't blame me for my ruthless decision,' Lisa spoke to his dead grandfather and father in his heart.

Lisa managed to control his outward rage, yet deep inside, the fury continued to boil like a volcano building up pressure before an eventual destructive eruption.

"You want to talk to him?" the teenage-looking man asked.

Lisa nodded, his eyes flashing with murder.

"In person?"

He nodded again.

"Alright. Follow me."

Lisa followed the other man into another narrower corridor. They stopped in front of a locked door. After the security lock approved the teenage-looking man's identity, it opened.

Cold.

Almost freezing.

That was the first thing that Lisa noticed upon entering the cell. Geo didn't so much as stir from his sitting position on the metal bed.

"Leave us," Lisa told the teenage-looking man.

"You sure?"

"Yes," he hissed the word.

"Fine. But be alert. Even a cornered rabbit will bite. Like I told you, he still has a lot of fight in him."

"I'm not that weak. I can protect myself."

The teenage-looking man nodded and finally left the room, closing the door behind him.

"Geo Manoban," Lisa called.

No reaction.

He stepped closer.

"Geo . Manoban."

The older man's dull eyes flickered. He stared at Lisa in a daze before he trembled in recognition. Then he leaped from the bed all of a sudden and tried to catch Lisa but Lisa avoided him. Geo knelt on the floor and started bawling like a baby.

"Lisa! My dear, help me! You have to help me! They're going to kill me! Kill me and my daughter and my wife! Don't let them kill Jane! He's your cousin!"
