"Well..." one of the eerily human beings drawled, a bored expression resting on his otherworldly handsome features. "It's just worthless livestock. Here I was expecting something better. How disappointing, isn't it?"

"Hm, one more food source at least," the other, a female, shrugged.

(Y/N) looked between them as her mouth opened and closed, wanting to speak, yet nothing coming out. Her eyes could only stay focused on the red of their eyes, the sharpness of their teeth, the point of their ears, and the colorful streaks within their hair. Something was familiar about them, yet she couldn't put her finger on to what or how.

    I know them.

No, I don't know them, but... they're familiar.

Why?

Are they... vampires?

But how?

Backing even further into the wall, as if trying to make herself smaller, (Y/N) swallowed thickly in fear as she grit her teeth in preparation before jumping up suddenly and sprinting away. She only ran a few feet before she fell, pain striking its way up her leg that made new tears prick at the corners of her eyes and a shrug shriek escape her lips.

"Hah!" The female vampire laughed, a sword dripping with her blood in hand. "How weak."

Licking the weapon, her tongue now tinted the dark shade of (Y/N)'s blood, her nose suddenly wrinkled as disgust befell her features. Spitting out the blood, she ran her tongue over her sharpened teeth, as if wanting to get rid of the fouls taste as much as she could.

"Oh?" The male vampire hummed, running a hand through his white hair. "Not to your taste?"

"Not at all," the female vampire growled in reply, glare her boring into (Y/N) with clear hatred. "It tastes absolutely horrid."

"Let me try," the male vampire suggested as he slid one finger down the edge of the sword, licking his finger free of (Y/N)'s blood before immediately having the same reaction as his compatriot, his expression one of utter revulsion. "How disgusting. What useless livestock, indeed."

(Y/N) could only balk at them.

What the fuck is going on here!?

Still clutching the back of her calf in pain, her blood leaking through her fingers from where the female vampire had sliced through the muscle, successfully immobilizing her, she then began to scoot backward, hoping that she could get away while they were preoccupied.

    But that idea diminished quickly.

"Since this human's blood is so filthy, do you suppose we should kill it?" The male vampire proposed, purposely stepping on (Y/N)'s wounded leg to relish in the way she cried in pain.

"I would assume so," the female vampire mused, sheathing her sword before using her pointer finger and thumb to pinch (Y/N)'s chin and force her to look up, her nails squeezing painfully into her skin. "Though, I don't know how Krul will feel if we kill anymore livestock."

"Its blood is disgusting," the male vampire griped. "I'm sure Krul won't mind."

"Tell that excuse to Krul when she rips your head off," the female vampire chastised him.

The male vampire clicked his tongue before picking (Y/N) up by the collar of her shirt to drag her behind him, uncaring of the way she gagged and choked and scrabbled at him to release her. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes once more as her mind whirred with activity, her breathing labored and black spots soon invading her vision, however that not stopping the thoughts that arose.

Now I know why this is all familiar.

I'm in an anime.

An anime where I can easily be killed.

Owari no Seraph, or, Seraph of the End; an anime adapted from a manga written by Takaya Kagami that centered on a dystopian world ruled by vampires who only thought of humans as food. The only resistance to this cruel way of living was an army that used demon-infused weapons to stave them off, though many still dying by vampires' hands. And now, (Y/N) was in said vampires hold, being dragged through the streets to who knew where.

She wanted to cry.

I love this anime, so why did it have to deal me such sucky cards of fate!?

Having kicked up her feet, making the male vampire that was dragging her falter, she was able to once again regain balance so she was standing again, although limping, and being tugged harshly along by a chain that the female vampire had locked around her neck. Already feeling the effects of it on the back of her neck in the form of a bruise, she wondered how she must've looked.

Probably crazy.

Probably like a beaten dog.

"I can't smell anything from it," the female vampire commented after a moment. "It's like... it's like it's not even in front of me. Not even its disgusting blood is giving it away."

"I noticed that too," the male vampire concurred. "It's making my skin crawl."

(Y/N) flinched at their tone.

Fear raced through her veins.

"Say something, livestock," the male vampire scowled as he jerked on the chain, the loud rattle drowned out by her choked strangle. "I find it strange that besides your initial want to run away, you haven't said a single word. At least by now, others would have started yelling or crying. Are you defective? Is that why your blood is so foul?"

(Y/N) struggled not to cry again.

Everything hurt.

Everything ached.

All she wanted in the world right then was to wake up in her bed, knowing it had only been a nightmare. But it wasn't, and she knew that from the ever increasing pain she felt everywhere.

"Don't instigate that speaking is necessary," the female vampire snapped in irritation. "Just looking at it is disparaging enough."

"Please..." (Y/N) whispered hoarsely, something that made both vampires stop and look at her in surprise before the expression quickly melted into one of disdain. "Please just let me go... I just want to go help... please let me go."

The vampires snickered.

Her begging was amusing to them.

"I guess it can talk," the male vampire proclaimed to his companion, his blood red eyes glittering with unrestrained psychotic glee. "Begging won't save your life, though. And we surely can't have you beg like that in front of Krul. It would be a disrespect to her and everything she stands for. Maybe we should cut out its tongue beforehand?"

(Y/N) felt her blood run cold.

"Well..." the female vampire slid her gaze to the side of her eyes, an air of sadistic pleasure sweeping across the hues. "As long as said removal of tongue doesn't kill it, right?"

    "Right," the male vampire grinned.
