The next few weeks seemed to blur together as Crowley's visits increased in quantity to Ferid's manor, as he never failed to come by each day to play a round of chess with (Y/N). Each time, their game ended with her victory, and each time, he always seemed amused by this before leaving, but not before announcing he would be back the next day for another game.

    (Y/N) didn't mind this.

Ferid, on the other hand, was an entirely different story in regard to Crowley's visit.

He toyed with the thought of banning Crowley from visiting any longer, but just the thought of doing so would mean acknowledging something he wasn't ready to acknowledge—that, or it was just something he had no need for.

    It was an aggravating loop.

    An endless cycle.

Yet, Ferid wasn't a man who allowed himself to show such weakness, and that included whatever attachment he held to his little pet. It was an attachment that he couldn't get rid of, nor did he want to get rid of, as for the first time in his endless life as a vampire, his interest was captured. It was a swift and violent capture, for he remembered that day in Krul's throne room so clearly. He recalled seeing (Y/N) cowering there before Krul, shaking and trembling like a little leaf that could be blown away by the faintest of winds.

    It was pathetic.

A miserable, pitiful existence that he couldn't help but laugh at the moment he saw it.

So, in a spur of the moment decision, he had called out to Krul so he could take (Y/N) in as his own little plaything to see if he could laugh further. He wanted to be entertained in this boring world of his that seemed to bleed bleak souls, and entertained he was by this stubborn, strong-willed human who always seemed to bend, but never break.

    Oh, how he loved it.

He knew it was that exact factor of hers that sparked Crowley's interest in her as well.

    What a headache this is.

Currently, Ferid sat at his desk in his office whilst (Y/N) remained in his bedroom, preferring to sleep away the day since she claimed to be having 'cramps', whatever that meant. In all honesty, he had a semblance of an idea of what was happening to her, for he could smell the scent of blood on her, and when she bathed, see the red that sometimes clouded in the water. He knew this was an occurrence to women, yet he hardly knew why, and he didn't really want to know—it wasn't something that interested in him nor benefited him, so he left (Y/N) alone to her woes.

However, doing so meant giving up whatever entertainment she could've provided for him that could've sped up the drear of the day.

Leaning back in his seat with a scowl, his eyes lidding as he stared down at the documents, he didn't notice the way Ayal glanced his way. Ayal sat at a different desk adjacent to Ferid, aiding him in reviewing said documents that needed to be overseen as he always did, his own eyes narrowing in distaste at the state of his master. More so, how far he had fallen under the illusionary spell of a mere human who contributed nothing to him. It was an egregious error in Ayal's mind that Ferid let (Y/N) distract him as he was doing so, yet he seemed not to see the distractions she was causing.

He could see right through Ferid when he knew that was the opposite of what he wanted.

"Lord Ferid," Ayal finally uttered, unable to hold back his thoughts on (Y/N) and here presence within the mansion as a whole. "I must speak with you."

"Hm?" Ferid glanced up at him. "Very well, Ayal. What is it?"

    "It's about the human."

At that, Ferid's interested was clearly piqued, his attention solely on Ayal in that moment, the document momentarily forgotten as if it's importance was worth less than what (Y/N)'s was. Noticing this, Ayal's frown merely deepened, however that didn't lower his determination to get through to Ferid any less.

"It's becoming a hindrance, Lord Ferid," Ayal continued, his expression only withering the more he thought about how severely (Y/N) was affecting Ferid. "One that shouldn't be allowed."

"Oh, Ayal," Ferid laughed in a smooth, calm manner, completely unaffected by his words. "Whatever are you talking about? How can my darling pet be a hindrance when all she's giving me is delightful entertainment that I haven't had in years? I'm certainly not ready to give that up just yet, not when there is so much more she has yet to give me. What on earth had suddenly made you decide to announce such strange things, hm?"

"Sir," Ayal spoke through gritted teeth. "Perhaps you're not hearing me."

"I've heard you," Ferid exhaled, drumming his fingers against the surface of his desk, his amusement of the topic beginning to wane. "Now I am asking you why you're bringing this up?"

"We need to get rid of it," Ayal announced without another moment of hesitation, his expression void of emotion. "Give it away to the handlers to be used as a blood vessel like all the other humans. And, if its blood still is bad, then dispose of it entirely. What this human is doing to you is worse off in the long run, sir, and I know you realize this."

    Silence descended upon the room.

It was a thick, heavy silence that was stifling.

Finally, Ferid broke that silence when he uttered, "Ayal... if I ever hear you suggest such a thing again, I will kill you. Do you understand?"

    His voice was calm.

There was not an ounce of rage behind it.

However, Ayal felt something almost close to his animalistic instincts take over at Ferid's worse, every single nerve in his body screaming at him to run away and escape the immense death that was staring him straight in the face. He sat there, paralyzed, as Ferid then stood up and calmly walked out of the room without another word. He didn't move even after Ferid left, though, instead continuing to stay in that one spot.

He sat there, in fear of his master for the first time in a long time.

All because of a single human.
