A cell.

(Y/N) was thrown into a cell.

She stared up blankly at the dirty, stone wall in front of her, her white clothes now equally as dirty compared to when she arrived in the capital. After Ferid had proposed keeping her—to what she could understand, as human pet instead of a food source—to Krul who begrudgingly agreed, (Y/N) wanted to cry, wondering why the Queen even assented to his demands when she hated him so much.

As she was led away, her chains gripped tightly by Ferid, she didn't look back.

It wasn't worth it.

Considering vampires felt no pity, or any semblance of human emotions at all, she knew Krul wouldn't feel an ounce of guilt for basically sentencing her to death by giving her away as a pet. After Ferid had escorted (Y/N) to his mansion in silence, he led her down into the basement and threw her into that cell without hesitation, leaving her down there for what seemed like days. After those said days, her stomach growled and her throat cried out whenever she swallowed, begging for water. The little that Ferid did provide for her to keep her alive was not enough, and she wondered why he was when both the food and time he spent was wasted—he barely even interacted with her, so she saw no point in why he kept her around.

Then again, she'd rather have him stay away from her for as long as possible.

Unfortunately, her wishes were futile.

That next day, she awoke from a light sleep to the sound of the cell door opening. Her eyes snapped wide open at that, trying to focus her bleary vision on the figure that stood menacingly and silently in the doorway, someone who she thought to be Ferid. Scrambling to the opposite wall, pressing her back against the stone, she stared at the shadowy figure, and he stared back, doing absolutely toning.

He just stood there.

"How disappointing you turned out to be," the figure sneered, his voice a bit deeper than Ferid's. "How disappointing, indeed."

Unlocking the door, the unknown vampire then grabbed her roughly by the upper arm and yanked her up. Already she could feel new bruises forming as she was tugged up the winding set of stairs out of the basement, the air slowly growing warmer compared to the once cold air. Then again, the shift wasn't by much since vampires felt nothing, temperature or otherwise. Soon enough, (Y/N) found herself in a new room that was bare save for a wooden table within, several ominous, metallic devices spread out on the surface.

She swallowed thickly in fear.

"No," she whispered, shaking her head and taking a fumbling step back. "No, no, no!"

She screamed the word over and over again, the mental abuse of being isolated for weeks, of having little nourishment, and the unfamiliarity of being in a new world all crashing down onto her at once. Running from the room, her mind tormented with the images of the sharp tools and blood stains, she let her tears free fall.

I want out!

I can't stay here!

Fuck those reincarnation books that make it seem like a fucking dream come true!

I want to go home!

Turning a corner, she grunted when she collided with someone, collapsing onto the ground with a grunt. Shakily looking upwards, a sobbing mess, she found herself staring into the disapproving eyes of Ferid. She willed her legs to move, to let her escape, but nothing happened, too crippled by the overwhelming sense of despair to do anything.

Ferid shook his head, tutting.

How disappointing indeed.

"It seems the effects of isolating a human is fear and irrationality, is it not?" Ferid then hummed as he leaned down to inspect (Y/N), only resulting in her trying to crawl away from him. "Oh..." His eyes lit up with amusement as he placed a finger to his chin, pressing his boot down on her hand and making her cry out as he murmured, "Well, aren't you just a scared, pathetic little sheep, hm?"

Pathetic?

    Sheep?

    The fuck?

Her (E/C) eyes reflected the emotions that she felt as she stared up at him, her arms curled around her body in a protective manner that made the vampire raise a brow, knowing such actions would do nothing to stave off any attack that could be given, only serving as a comforting, however useless, purpose.

"I'm tempted to taste you," he murmured. "The rumors surrounding you make it seem as if you're very... unappetizing."

    She said nothing.

Jerking her head away from his grip, an act of defiance she knew would lead her nowhere, she stared at the floor. Her feet were now looking very interesting. Ferid sighed, however his gaze didn't waver as he drank in the woman before him, puzzlement engulfing him, the feeling both pleasing and unpleasant, along with riddling his head with unfiltered thoughts and pointless arguments against himself He wanted to see exactly what made this human the way she was. The virus that had killed ninety-percent of the population over the age of thirteen had swept through the planet only a few years ago due to the humans' own carelessness. Vampires only rose up to save their diminishing food source not as a courtesy to human kind, but to their own needs and survival. While it wasn't rare to meet an adult, specifically one not already taken in by the human army, he never knew one whose blood had tasted as horrid as the one in front of him was described.

He wanted to know why.

He kept her in the most terrible conditions and spiked her emotions toward an unhealthy status.

Yet he never could smell her blood.

Ferid's eyebrows furrowed as thoughts flew through his mind, his usual carefree smirk gone, now replaced with a deep concentration. (Y/N) watched as his expression contorted to match his inward thoughts, wondering what could've made him stop his advancement toward her, and what motivated him to act in such impulsive ways that was unlike his usual compulsive manners. She startled when he seemed to snap back into focus and grabbed her wrist without delicacy, his sharp nails scratching her skin.

She shouldn't have been used to it, though it didn't matter since she was. As this realization flashed through her, the familiar twists and turns leading them straight back toward the room with the wooden table and contraptions all but made her stiffen and start struggling once more.

"Stop," she gasped, pulling away and making Ferid falter. "I can't go! I won't! Let me g—"

A harsh slap cut her off.

Thin trickles of blood leaked from her cheek due to his nails, staining his thumb.

He licked it.

"Hm, you really are as disgusting as they say," he mused with obvious delight, making (Y/N) shudder from the predatory way he was looking down at her. "How fun is this~"
