Chess and (Y/N) walked in tense silence away from Crowley's manor as per Crowley's request, however neither of the two women could say that they fully agreed with his demands. On one hand, Chess wanted to kill (Y/N) and be done with it. On the other hand, (Y/N) wanted to fully escape from the tight clutches of all vampires. Of course, they didn't voice their thoughts, instead choosing to brood by themselves. The wind then picked up, exciting a chill that made (Y/N) shiver and rub her arms despite being in a coat, a little tick Chess kept noticing.

It was highly irritating.

"Stop doing that," Chess snapped, her red eyes flicking up to the sky to showcase just how annoyed she was at the action. "It's annoying, human."

"It's (Y/N)," (Y/N) spat back, fed up with being called names anything other than her own.

"Excuse me?" She scoffed, raising a brow at (Y/N)'s tone, wondering if both Crowley and Ferid had to go through such disrespect from a lower being. "It's what you are. Why would I ever address you by a term that isn't what you are?"

"I may be a human, I may just be livestock to you, but just like you, I have a name—not 'livestock,' not 'human,' not 'it,' but (Y/N)," (Y/N) made clear, using her hands to speak and making Chess snap her gaze frequently her way. "I'm tired and fed up with how you treat us like vermin. Sure, you compare us to cattle, but the vast difference between us and them? We have reasoning! We have morality! We have faith! We are different."

"Hah!" Chess laughed. "Morality? Faith? Don't make me laugh, human. All you mortals do is go to war with each other, kill each other, hurt each other, and so much more. I've seen it. I've been seeing it for several hundred years! Nothing's changed. Nothing. And you say you're different from cattle? All of that fighting and grouping... it's just instinct."

"Well, at least most people are guided by their morals," (Y/N) scowled. "Do you vampires even have such a thing?"

Chess glared down at (Y/N) with enough hatred that if she could, she would've burnt a hole straight through her. She didn't say anything at the moment, instead finding how (Y/N) was talking anything but pleasing when she didn't do what natural: cowering in Chess' mere presence, not arguing. If anything, Chess could hardly understand why Crowley would be entertained by this irritating human when she was just that: irritating.

"And another thing," (Y/N) continued when Chess' silence was too much. "Why must you always drain our blood? Why must you always demand it from us like it's your right? You would be dead too if we had died off. Instead of threatening more of our lives with your laws of keeping us chained up and trying to kill off those that go against said laws, why don't you vampires try and—"

(Y/N) was abruptly cut off when Chess grabbed her harshly by the collar of her shirt and threw her to the hard ground, the frigid snow barely aiding in cushioning her fall.

"Shut up," Chess uttered coldly.

(Y/N) glowered at the vampiric woman as she picked herself up, scowling now, whilst brushing of the bits of snow that clung to her clothing. The feeling of the frost biting at her skin was fully in effect now that the initial amazement of seeing the natural occurrence wore off. Chess and (Y/N) stood facing each other, both of their expressions equal masks of disdain and loathing.

"Don't look at me like that, human," Chess spat, disregarding (Y/N)'s entire ask to be called by name. "It seems Lord Ferid and Lord Crowley were lacking when it came to disciplining you."

"You're all monsters," (Y/N) spoke, her fingers curling into clenched fists. "Why is it so hard for you vampires to understand that I am tired of being treated like... like a thing!?"

Chess grinned sadistically.

It was clear she couldn't care less.

"Fuck you!" (Y/N) then cursed at her.

Inhaling deeply, Chess suddenly and surprisingly blade her sword from its holster and sliced the blue across (Y/N)'s arm. Instantly, a cry escaped her lips whilst her eyes widened in pain and her other hand reached out to cup her now bleeding arm. The warm blood trickled over her skin and dripped down onto the ground below, staining the once pure white snow a vivid scarlet in color.

"That is a warning," Chess giggled, clearly pleased with herself and her actions.

This was how she would show (Y/N)—prove that no matter how big she talked, she would always remain smaller than her because she was but a mere, weak human. Even (Y/N)'s reaction just then to such a small cut tickled Chess' sadistic side. Sheathing her sword, Chess turned away from (Y/N) to continue walking, not noticing the way (Y/N)'s lips curled in a vehement snarl.

Grabbing a rock, (Y/N) staggered upward before rushing forward and slamming said rock into the back of Chess' head, making her stumble forward in clear shock. With that window of time, (Y/N) began running faster than she ever thought she could, losing Chess by dodging around buildings and ducking into hidden areas to both rest and hide. Currently, she was within an old underground shopping mall, collapsing onto a pile of dusty clothes since she was too exhausted to care about cleanliness.

I did it.

I fucking did it.

Biting her lip to stop the joyous tears that threatened to spill, she let out a breath and stood right back up, deeming it better to try and get as far away from the vampires as she could. So, she continued running with minimal rest, however always making sure to hide whenever she heard the rumble of those creatures she had encountered upon first transmigrating into the anime—the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Yet, her hope only grew larger the more distance was put behind her.

I can make it.

I will make it!

The best chance for me to live is by making it to Shibuya!

(Y/N)'s speed increased when this thought fluttered through her mind, feeling as if she were soaring, her arms being wings and her legs feeling like they weren't even touching the ground. Tears started actually streaming down her face when thinking about actually being a part of human society again, about having those that could feel and think like her. When coming to a stop outside of a massive wall, she collapsed.

She breathed heavily, her face flushed.

I made it.
