WARNING: Vomiting blood.

Nick's POV.
We walked like that for the next few hours. I was nauseous and easily getting tired, but I told myself that "I could care less" and there are more important things to be worried about right now. I wanted to finish what we came here for in the first place.

After some more time, I felt really cranky, everything was setting me up. The sound of the leaves on trees and bushes, wind, literally anything made my ears and head hurt; I hated it. I rubbed my face as we continued the way, hoping I'll be able to ignore it.

I also heard Vernias and Eevee talking behind me. I was glad they seemed to have good contact with each other so far, and normally I wouldn't pay attention to other people's conversation, but something annoyed me inside.

I tried to calm myself down, not showing many emotions and how much all the sounds annoyed me. I felt a phone vibrating in my pocket, so I stopped Vern and Eevee as I took it out and answered.

"Hello?" - I said with an empty, bored voice, trying not to sound cranky.

"Hello, you three. I've noticed you're quite fast going there. I expected you guys to take a bit more breaks." - the professor said, impressed. - "However, I'm calling, because I'd recommend all of you to actually get some sleep. It's getting late, and I think it's better to take a proper rest if you want to confront king Bowser.

I sighed.
"Okay, will do." - I answered and hung up.

I started using my power to make a plant bed again, which felt really painful for some reason. I rubbed my face, trying to stop the headache, as I was controlling the plants, when suddenly, Vernias grabbed my arm, making me stop using my powers.

Vern shook his head as he frowned.
"Don't. I don't want to see you pass out because of power overuse again."

"You're overdramatic. I'll be fine." - I said, slightly more annoyed.

"No, Nick. I'm not being overdramatic, it's about your health. Don't use your power just for our comfort." - Vernias insisted.

"Where do you want to sleep then, you fucking genius? On the ground?" - I asked him, feeling more angry each second.

"Well, I'd rather that than you passing out." - Vern said and crossed his arms. - "Again, might I add."

"Fuck it, I'm making the beds anyway." - I said as I raised my hand to use my powers again.

Vernias sighed.
"You're so stubborn."

"Nick, I feel like you're a bit too harsh to yourself just for us to have a "peaceful" night. You know, we can find some logs to sleep on too. It's not that much of a problem, man." - Eevee suggested.

I rolled my eyes, not paying much attention to what both of them said, as I finished making the beds with the plants.
"Sleep and stop annoying me." - I said as I laid down.

I only heard Vernias and Eevee sighing before they both also laid down on their beds.

I waited for them to fall asleep, and when I felt like they were sleeping, I sneaked out of the plant bed and took a few steps away, not to bother nor wake them up.

Vernias' POV.
I heard someone moving around their bed and getting up, easily figuring it was Nick. I listened to the sounds, and based on them, he was going somewhere to the forest.

I sat down and looked around, barely seeing anything through the darkness besides my surroundings. I decided to get up and follow Nick. I needed to know what he was hiding.

As I got up and was about to go, I suddenly noticed a yellow-ish glow for about two seconds in the forest. I recognized that color easily, so I used my wings to quickly fly there.

Once I was close, I noticed Nick, wiping his mouth with a leaf again.

When he saw me, he frowned, either annoyed or worried.
"What are you doing here?!" - Nick shouted.

"And you're asking me this question?" - I asked softly. - "Keep your voice lower, Eevee is not that far away, I don't want to wake him up."

"Why are you not sleeping?" - he answered with a bit quieter tone, crossing his arms, still annoyed.

"Because I'm worried about you. I heard you getting up from your bed. What happened?" - I asked him, frowning.

"Nothing, I'm fine. Good night." - Nick said as he shoved me out of the way and went back, ignoring my question.

I sighed and looked around. Then, I looked down, as something caught my eye. A specific dark and bloody color in the grass.

I frowned, took out my glove again and crouched down. I took a little smudge of this liquid, wanting to check what it was. I looked at it for a second.

It looked like blood, just really unnatural. It was almost black, but I thought it was because I didn't have any daylight. I decided to check if it was blood by using my healing power.

It was blood, it completly disappeared after just five seconds of me "healing" it. I was worried about that observation. That meant every time Nick went to the side, he just went to throw up a solid amount of blood.

I thought I should come back and confront him about it, but once I was there, I noticed both Nick and Sophist sleeping peacefully. I didn't want to wake them up, it's hard to see them quiet for once.
I sighed and went to my plant bed, laying down and falling asleep as well.

Nick's POV.
I woke up on the ground with a headache. I sat and looked forward, seeing Vernias next to me and Eevee leaning against the tree.

"I told you you're gonna pass out, Nick." - Vernias said, annoyed but worried, as he held out a hand to help me get up.

I grabbed his hand and stood up, shaking the dirt of off my back, as I answered him;
"Yeah, whatever. It's not like it's anything serious anyway." - I said, rolling my eyes. - "You're overreacting, fallen angel."

"No, I'm literally not." - Vern answered. He seemed like he knew something about my current state. - "I had to heal you again, otherwise you wouldn't wake up for the next few hours."

I just sighed as we all decided to continue our way, since we weren't too far away from the Bowser's castle.
