2 weeks later...

Vernias' POV.
I decided to visit Sarasaland after a few days to chill with the others. I flew down towards the castle and was let inside by the guards there. Soon enough, I was greeted by Nick and Brent as well, and we went to the room to hang out and play some games together.

After some time of playing, we got a bit bored, so we decided to take a break. I was laying on a chair, when I felt someone tapping my shoulder. I turned around and looked up, seeing Nick.

"I need to ask you about something important." - he said, frowning a bit. - "But alone. Maybe in the forest nearby?"

I looked at him, a bit distraught and confused, but nodded and got up, following him outside of the castle, both of us going to the forest.

A minute later, we sat on a log, and I looked at him, curiously.
"What's up?" - I asked.

"Remember that fight with Bowser from two weeks ago?" - he started, not really looking at me.

"Of course, what about it?"

"Well, a bit before the fight, he had his monologue about me, you and Sophist. He said you were his "greatest experiment", and when I asked you about it, you said you'll explain it someday, and you know, your life in general." - he said and finally looked at me. I looked down, sudden flashbacks and memories coming to my head, before I snapped out of it because of Nick continuing his talk. - "Of course if it's something uncomfortable to talk about then you don't have to-"

"No, it's fine. I'll keep my promise, I'll tell you how it happened." - I said, taking a breather, before starting my story...

4 years ago, Vern's age - 12 years old...

My name isn't Vernias; never was. It's a name I made for myself after some events from my past. My actual name was Carnig.

I had an average life. Loving parents, giving me their attention whenever I needed or wanted it. I didn't need anything else in my life, I was grateful for everything.
My appearance was completely different though. I never had wings, no unique style either, nor pink hair. I didn't really stand out at all, but I didn't mind it. I was very humble towards fate.

That was until one day, when I woke up early from the rays of the sunlight going into my room and slightly blinding my eyes. I got up and looked through the window; it was shiny and peaceful outside. I decided to get dressed and ask my parents to go for a walk together.

I went downstairs and noticed my mom sitting in the kitchen. I sat down as well and smiled, making myself some food.

"Good morning, sleepyhead. It's almost 12PM already!" - she said with a laugh, warmly smiling at me.

"Morning!" - I answered, really excited. - "Can we go for a walk today? It looks like it's really nice outside!"

"Of course, dear. Just eat your breakfast and brush your teeth, alright?"

I nodded to her and looked at my plate, continuing to eat my food. Once I finished, I quickly ran into the bathroom and got ready there.

When I left and ran to the living room, I shouted and asked if we were going now. Followed by some laughs, my parents got up and we left the house for a walk.
