The first thing we did after we were free, both me and Brent just couldn't stand and stare; we immediately ran up to each other to hug the shit out of ourselves.

We both teared up a bit, extremely happy that we were together again. I only looked up a bit to see Vern and Eevee, both smiling. I remembered myself about something, though.
 
 
"Brent, I'm so sorry."

"About what?" - he asked, letting go to look at me.

"For breaking the promise we had since we were 5 years old." - I answered, disappointed with myself. - "I really didn't know you were taken by that assholes then, I swear if I knew-"

Brent silenced me with another hug. I looked at him, surprised, but quickly hugged back.
"You can't be serious. Did you really think you broke the promise with that?"  - Brent asked.

"I mean, yes? I didn't help you when you needed me, so-"

"Nick, you're so stupid, I swear..." - he answered, interrupting me in the middle of my sentence again.

I would've gotten mad and fought about it, but I was too happy (and too weakened from what Bowser did before) to bother with that now. Not to mention my vomiting problem, which was brought up by Vern a few seconds later.

"Sorry to interrupt this really cute reunion, but Nick, care to explain why you didn't tell us about what was happening to you?" - Vernias asked with a raised eyebrow. - "AND lied to me about it when I asked, might I add?

"Wait, exactly, are you okay, bro?" - Brent asked, as he got reminded about that and finally let me go after the long hug to look at me.

"I'm fine-"

"No, that's bullshit, you're not." - Vernias interrupted me. - "You're coming up to me, I'm healing you right now."

"But you're weakened and need to heal yourself too-" - I remarked.

"End of the discussion, come here." - Vern said with a firm voice and showed me a gesture to come closer to him.

I rolled my eyes, and came towards him. Soon enough, Vern used his power to heal me completely. I haven't felt that well for the past hours.

"Thank you, I guess, fallen angel." - I said and looked at him, putting my hand on his shoulder. - "But- are you okay? You look exhausted."

"It's fine, healers job." - Vern answered with a small laugh.

"Okay fuckers, better question, how do we finish our main task?" - Eevee asked, reminding everyone about the observatory.

"Thanks to Bowser being stupid enough and not realizing I'm literally in the same room and just because I'm locked it doesn't mean I'm deaf, he kind of said everything about "taking the power away from him" as he interpreted it." - Brent said.

"Say everything you know." - I answered, listening curiously.

"Bowser's intentions were to get our attention, so he can bring us all here. He needs two people's full abilities to completely take over the observatory's power." - Brent explained in short. - "His power is considered as one person's, and I guess I was supposed to be a second one, but thankfully, which I'm grateful about, you all came in to help and let me free."

"How did he take the power from the observatory if he needs another person though?" - Vernias asked.

"He didn't entirely, that's the thing." - Brent said. - "He was only able to transfer it to his machine, but he can't take this power because his abilities are too weak to handle such power. That's why he needs the combination of his and someone else's abilities."

I hummed, thinking about this whole explanation. Suddenly though, the door opened, and we all noticed Bowser coming in. He looked at us, mad and surprised we all got out. I decided to prevent him by talking about a compromise.
"Before you get mad, I have an idea, and you might like that one."

"What." - Bowser answered, impatient, looking at me with a judging eyesight.

"I volunteer as the person to give you the abilities, because I know you need it to fully achieve the observatory's power. There's a catch, though."

Bowser raised an eyebrow, seemingly interested in my offer.
"A catch? Which is?"

"I'm not going to just give it to you, but we can have a fight. If you win, you take my power, if I win, you restore the observatory's energy." - I said and crossed my arms, waiting for Bowser's answer.

"I like your way of thinking. The fight will be tomorrow then, my guards will come and get you to the arena when it's time. For now, go to the separate room, your friends can go to the other one. Better get ready, Nicolas." - Bowser answered with a grin as he left the room, leaving me and the boys.

"Are you insane?!" - Brent suddenly yelled at me a few seconds after Bowser left.

I rolled my eyes, expecting this type of reaction reaction.
"I know it's a risky move, but it's very doable. I'm willing to do it, after all the observatory needs its power back."

"I'm not talking about the observatory's power, I'm talking about YOUR LIFE, you dumbass?!" - Brent yelled again, grabbing and shaking my arm.

"Nick, I'm completely sure Bowser won't play fair, and if you lose, he will kill you, because that's the only way of taking someone else's power. You're risking your life!" - Vernias shouted as well.

I smiled at that. I didn't mind risking my life for the sake of people anyway.

Eevee snapped back with an idea.
"Sure, do that. But if he'll fight unfairly or you're in a bigger danger, we're jumping into the arena."

"I'm in." - Vern added.

"So am I." - Brent said as well.

"What?! No, you guys are sitting the fuck down and NOT intervene!" - I yelled at them.

"If you're insane, why can't we?" - Vernias asked with a smile and raised eyebrow.

I looked at them with a surprised face, but finally I smiled back.
"I don't want you guys to risk your health, though."

"But you are, so we will as well." - Brent said.

I smiled at that, but shook my head. I won't allow them to fight with me. I felt a weird feeling, though; a weird feeling of safety, despite being aware of tomorrow's important fight.
  
 
I saw Brent wanting to argue, but some guards came, taking us to the rooms. I was in a completely separated room, while the other three went together.

The guard told me about resting, so the fight is completely fair, which I didn't believe that it would be anyway, but falling asleep wouldn't be such a bad idea, considering how tired me and the others were after walking here for so long.

Soon, the guard left and locked the door. I felt the loneliness. I just hoped for Brent, Vernias and Eevee to listen and not intervene into the fight at any point.

I didn't care about risking my life, I wanted to do that since I was a kid. I didn't want them to do the same. If I'm risking, it's for them and other people; they shouldn't be helping.
