The people have spoken.
I own nothing.
Our Weird Lizard Son"Yes, yes, yes!...I have no idea what's in it." Lilia declared, stepping away from the table in the Diasomnia's lounge and the item that Malleus had brought in.
The tall fae prince had gone on his usual night walk, examining the lone gargoyles and ruminating on his thoughts. As he debated about whether he should invite (Y/N) to join him, he came across a curious sight at the feet of one of the specimens: an egg. More specifically, a large, red and white splotched egg, with a dark gray patch, and red, pink, and white feather patterns running down the back. It was quite a sight to behold as the egg stuck out like a sore thumb in the night. He had been tempted to leave it alone, perhaps wait for the parent to return and claim it, but upon touching it, he found the shell cool to the touch. Some sort of protective instinct took over, and before he knew it, he had scooped up the egg and made his way back to the dorm, immediately calling for Lilia who would be the most likely to know what animal had laid it.
Not the case, it seems.
Malleus pouted, picking the egg up and holding it at eye level. "How peculiar you are, egg."
The egg shook and faintly glowed, making the fae even more perplexed as Silver and Sebek came in with various books.
"We couldn't find anything in the bestiaries." Silver said. "And Professor Trein couldn't match the color and pattern to anything."
"How are we certain this creature is worth our young master's time?" Sebek asked haughtily. "We should leave it be."
"Now, now, Sebek, that's no way to treat an infant." Lilia half scolded. "They must be cherished."
"I am concerned." Malleus admitted, readjusting his grip on the egg. "Perhaps I should have left it. Its parent may very well have returned."
Silver shook his head. "Given how cold it was, Professor Trein doubts it would've lasted much longer."
"Oh, idea!" Lilia suddenly said. "If there are no records of an egg like this from this world, why don't we ask our resident beast expert from another world if she knows what it is?"
"You think it's a Pokémon?" Silver asked.
"If a massive sea serpent managed to get here from her world, why not an egg?"
Malleus looked down at the egg. "I do recall the child of man telling me that Pokémon eggs behave similarly to this when they are near to hatching. Perhaps she may shed light on our mysterious guest."(Timeskip)
"I have no idea what's in this egg." (Y/N) admitted as she finished her examination and held it in her arms.
It was quite a shock when all of the Diasomnia boys showed up at the Ramshackle Dorm, making Grim race off in fear. In contrast, the baby Pokémon and Noivern immediately flocked to Lilia, Absol and his family gathered around Silver for a nap, Corviknight began following Sebek, and Hydreigon immediately had her head in Malleus's lap.
The fae prince let out a disappointed sigh. "I was afraid you'd say that, my friend."
Sebek shook off Corviknight in a huff. "You should offer more hospitality to our master, especially since you can't even provide answers about this mysterious egg!"
"We can't either, Sebek." Silver said, giving him a look.
(Y/N) ignored the first year's usual rudeness. "Well, I can definitely say it's a Pokémon egg, but I just don't know what species it is."
"Odd." Lilia noted as Jangmo-oh and Applin fought for a spot on his shoulder. "How can you be sure?"
"Pokémon eggs have a certain...how to put this? Aura about them? Pokemon, no matter how strong or weak, put out an energy different from animals. People from my world pretty much instinctively recognize it because we're surrounded by Pokémon pretty much 24/7, but I guess it would be a bit off putting in a world like Twisted Wonderland. Plus, the egg's the right shape and size. The markings on the shell are meant to mimic the Pokémon, like how Shinx's egg was the normal Shinx blue, black, and had a yellow star. I just don't know any Pokémon with these patterns."
"So, it's a Pokémon, the species simply alludes us." Malleus said, making the girl nod.
"Yup. It could be anything. Admittedly, there are more isolated regions I haven't traveled to yet, not to mention, this thing probably got sent through an Ultra Wormhole, and those things aren't restricted to the present. For all I know, this could very well be a Pokémon extinct currently. We won't know until it hatches."
"And when would that be?" Sebek asked, pushing Corviknight's beak away.
"You said it was already starting to glow and shake?" Malleus nodded. "Not too long then."
"Oh what fun!" Lilia clapped, looking all too amused. "It's like waiting to unwrap a present!"
"We can also try and guess what type it is." (Y/N) said, sitting down, putting the egg in her lap and pulling Malleus down so he could feel the shell. "Feel that? A leathery outer shell. That usually means a more reptilian Pokémon, specifically those in the dragon egg group, which primarily consists of dragon types, so odds are that. Certainly explains why you were drawn to it, Tsunatoru."
He hummed in agreement, ignoring Sebek's insistent screeching for (Y/N) to show more respect.
"What about the other typing?"
(Y/N) scratched her cheek. "That's a bit trickier. Water types tend to have stickier shells, so we can rule that out. Fire types are warmer than this; electric types give off a bit of static electricity; and poison types smell a bit more pungent. That's about as much as I can figure out. For now, it's probably better that this egg stay here so I can keep an eye on it."
"That does make sense." Malleus said, though he was pouting in disappointment.
(Y/N), noticing this, smiled. "Don't worry, I'll make sure you get to see it hatch."
That immediately made him perk up. "Thank you, my friend."
