Dare I even open the Stitch banners after what happened with Lilia?
I own nothing.
Chapter 53: Dream Hopping

"ORTHO's composition data has finished downloading." The computer system announced, 48 hours later. "Reconstructing data. 48%... 85%... Completed."
Othro reappeared, stretching his ethereal limbs.
"Oof! I finaaaallyyyy made it back! It feels like all my data's still deconstructed. It's currently five in the morning. I wonder what else has changed. Brother...
"... Is that you, Ortho?"
The robot boy yelped as he turned to see if his father slumped beneath the desk.
"Whoa! Don't scare me like that, Dad! What are you doing under the operator's desk?
"There's still a lot to be done, so we stayed the night." The director explained, standing up and stretching his back. "I'll be heading to the Disaster Response HQ in the Isle of Dawning soon."
"Have there been any significant changes while I was out?"
"S.T.Y.X., together with the Magical Force, and the Briar Valley's royal family attempted to break into Malleus Draconia's domain, but...Neither physical nor magical attacks could make a dent. The thorns do not discriminate between humans and fae, and anyone attempting to enter just get sucked into the field. We've deployed magical barriers to the surrounding areas to hopefully slow the erosion, but...They were easily taken over, and the domain continues to expand as we speak. The Sage's Island is fortunately remote, so there haven't been any great calamities, but... it's only a matter of time now."
Ortho gulped at the terrifying nature of the calamity. "Where's Mom and Poyo?
"She's holed them both up in Lab 1 since then."
"Why...?" The younger Shroud asked as his mother came barreling in, Poyo following close behind.
"There you are, Ortho! How many times have I told you to listen to what Mama has to say first! You even threatened your own parents, you bad boy, you!"
Ortho looked ashamed, though not enough to not give Poyo a deserved hug. "I'm really sorry..."
"I would have spanked you if you weren't a hologram right now! But I'm proud of you for saying you're sorry. That's my boy! Thank you for coming back to us... I'm so glad to know that you're safe. Welcome back, Ortho.
"Yes, I'm glad to be back. And I'm glad you're okay too Poyo!"
The Pokémon flew over to Mama Shroud, who held him like a cat. "Yes! This little handsome fella was such a big help! Such a good boy! Thanks to him, we're ready for you, Ortho."
"Do you mean, you actually..."
"We can't have the Isle of Woe submerging now, can we? Come meet me in Lab 1's mainframe."
The chief engineer led them all into the lab. Ortho beamed when he caught sight of the new gear.
"Wow...!"
"The domain is bound to be a battlefield." His mother explained, showing off the Cerberus armor. "It's equipped with a specialized anti-magical gear that can withstand area contamination. I call it the "Cerberus Gear"!"
"Amazing!" Her son shouted. "You did all this in just 48 hours?"
Papa Shroud nodded, motioning to the exhausted workers littering the floor. "Everyone in the Engineering Department are all out cold..."
"Oh, that explains all the bodies lying around."
Mama Shroud did not care, instead cuddling with Poyo. "I'm so glad that Idy had a user manual in his PC. Thanks to that, we only had to manufacture a few specialized equipment. We wouldn't have made it on time otherwise. And of course, sweet Poyo was tremendous help too!"
Ortho blinked. "No way! You bypassed his PC's super meticulous security!?"
"I had no choice, this is an emergency! Mama totally didn't peek in the password-protected folders! Poyo made sure of that! But keep this between us, okay?"
"I think he'll figure it out as soon as he sees my new gear..."
The director then cleared his throat. "Ahem! Let's leave the private matters at that, Chief. Please proceed with the transfer."
"Ah, please excuse me. We will now begin transmitting ORTHO's AI data." With Poyo's help, Mama Shroud immediately began the download, waiting for that 100%. "How does it feel, Ortho?"
Ortho tested out the limbs, liking the feel. "The energy circulation feels great! It's totally awesome!"
"It's so cool, right!? Mama knew this kind of gear would look good on you!"
"It definitely gives off a different vibe from Brother's designs."
"I wish I had more time to make the exhausts more compact though. Still, this is the best S.T.Y.X. has ever made. Ahem! Now, then, I will be explaining your special mission shortly."
The boy nodded. "Understood!"
Two robotic dogs stepped into the lab as the Chief Engineer pulled up schematics of the plan.
"You will be accompanied by Support Droids KB-RS01, 02 for this mission. The droids are equipped with the Cerberus System and its corresponding programs. I've also modified S01 for compatibility with Poyo so he can aid you in both exploration and in battle, along with a emergency exit in case he needs to escape back into the network."
Poyo demonstrates by flying over to S01, disappearing as he entered the robotic dog's mainframe with permission from the mainframe. Immediately, S01 became much more animated, obviously taking on Poyo's characteristics.
"All right, Poyo!" Ortho cheered as the robot dog ran up to him like a regular dog. "Now we can put all that Pokémon training (Y/N) gave us to the test!"
The robot dog barked as Mama Shroud continued to describe the mission.
"Once inside the domain, those gears are operational for a total of 20 minutes."
"20 minutes, huh." Ortho repeated. "That'll be more than enough time-,"
Papa Shroud cut him off. "The purpose of this mission is not to subjugate Malleus Draconia. You are to return to HQ as soon as you set the analytic anchors."
"Roger!"
"Next, I would like you to remember your mission's top priority. Listen, Ortho." Mama Shroud stepped closer to her son. "Promise me that you will never ever do anything reckless. If you get scared or if you think you're in danger, withdraw immediately. Am I understood?"
"Yes, perfectly!"
"Really? You're so good at knowing what to say. Hmph! I know that you never listen to Mama. Why are boys so stubborn? Mama might need more than nine lives. Really, you're just like your brothers. No one can stop you once you're set on doing something."
"Mom..."
She then slapped her husband's shoulder. "Say something too, Papa!"
The man cleared his throat again. "...Ortho, this is an issue that S.T.Y.X. and the Magical Force should handle. There's no need for you to put yourselves in danger, too. You don't have to go."
"Dad...Thank you for loving a humanoid like me as your own. I'm very happy. I don't want to see you both lose another beloved son. This is something only Poyo and I can do, so we'll go. I promise that we'll save Brother. This is my—No, our will."
The two adults looked at each other before Mama Shroud stepped closer.
"You're our precious son, too, Ortho. Promise me that you'll come home safely."
"Yes, I promise."
She then patted S01. "You too, Poyo, you're part of this family now too."
The robot dog howled in agreement.
"All right, give us a promise hug now."
Ortho and Poyo jumped in to the group hug, Poyo's new tail wagging happily before they broke it off.
"Hehe, I'm all charged up! I'll get going now." Ortho turned to his faithful Pokémon. "Come on, Poyo! Off to the island where Brother waits!"
