Aanan's pov~~

As I stepped into the living room, I found her curled up on the sofa, fast asleep.

Her hand was resting over her stomach, and even in her sleep, I could see a faint crease of discomfort on her face.

A pang of guilt shot through me-I hadn't meant to be this late.

Kneeling beside her, I reached out, gently brushing a stray strand of hair from her face.

She stirred slightly, her face softening as my fingers lingered.

"I'm sorry" Leaning in, I pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, murmuring,

Carefully, I lifted her into my arms. She instinctively nestled closer, a sigh escaping her lips as she snuggled against my chest.

I need to comfort her, to make up for every second I wasn't there.

As I made my way to our room, halfway down the hall, I felt her stir. Her eyes fluttered open, taking in her surroundings.

And before I could even process it, she slipped out of my hold, landing on her feet, and darted toward the room with surprising speed.

"Wait, Pearl-" I started, but she'd already shut the door.

A slow smile spread across my face.

She actually locked me out.

"Seriously?, You're really not going to let me in?, it's not fair"

"Go and sleep in your office!," Her muffled voice came through the door.

"Pearl, please... let me in."

There was a silence, and then she replied, "You're not allowed in here. You can sleep in the living room; after all, you seemed comfortable there."

"Comfortable?" I repeated, "I was only comfortable there because you were present."

"Without you," I continued, my voice soft but firm, "not a single place feels right or comfortable. Not even the bed or this room."

I waited, "So, if you really want me to be comfortable," I murmured, "you'll have to let me stay here-with you."

I stood hoping she'd open the door. But then, I heard her voice.

"Leo, tell your dad goodnight," she said. "And tell him he can sleep anywhere he wants tonight because this door is not opening."

"Ashvi baby please," I said softly.

"I swear, I won't be late again. Just open the door, please."

There was a moment of silence from the other side.
