" Don't stay where you are needed. Go where you are loved. "

Marya Montague awoke to arguing.

Loud arguing. Voices growing much more brazen as they fought to speak over one another.

The brunette groaned in exasperation, falling back into the warmth of her blankets as a plushy pillow covered her face to muffle her cousin, prince and friend clucking like chickens down on the first floor.

Minutes passed and they did not stop, thus Marya had no other choice but to get up for the day. On the bright side, she had many questions that Callis said would be answered.

The Montague shivered as she made the bed, the winter cold easily flowing into the wooden house due to the poor insulation. A hot bath would do some good.

Time had passed, only exiting the tub once the water turned cold and her fingers pruned. She smiled at the garment waiting on the chair in the corner of the room, and placed the cornflower blue kirtle over an off-the-shoulder chemise. It must have been Callis before she left for work.

Sliding on the black flats by the door, Marya finished tying her hair back with a blue ribbon prior to leaving the room.

Somehow, the three Evers were still going at it as they sat around the dining table, their breakfast long forgotten. They were discussing the events that happened over a week ago, and Tedros was red-faced as Agatha spouted about her plan with Sophie–which absolutely backfired!

" How could you!?"

" We had no choice–"

" It was selfish!"

" You were willing to hurt Marya?"

" Don't use that tone!"

" You hurt her!"

" How would you know? You weren't there!"

" Guys?" Marya queried, and the arguing dissipated.

Heads whirled towards the Montague at alarming speed, their eyes wide before Gavriel broke out into a wide smile.

" Cousin, you're alive!" He joked, taking her into his arms for a hug. " Thought you would never wake!"

" How could I sleep any longer with you arguing like ninnies?" She teased, observing how Tedros and Agatha sheepishly smiled.

" Sorry, Mar." The ravenette gently rubbed the girl's arm as a means of affection before sitting back down at the table, giving the Pendragon the chance to speak with the girl that he had much left unsaid.

" I'm glad you're feeling better." Tedros mumbled, a soft smile on his lips as he gazed down at Marya, tucking a fallen strand of hair behind her ear. " You had us worried sick."

" I'll try not to take ill from a cursed ring the next time." She joked, but only received deadpanned stares from those in the room.

Too soon. Got it.

" Can we talk?" The blonde asked quietly, and Marya nodded, letting the prince guide her back upstairs with a gentle hand on the small of her back.

They ended up settling in the bay window at the end of the second floor's corridor, a view of the woods behind the house being the only thing seen for miles. Snow rested on pine, and the world was one of white as the storm that raged for the last three days finally stopped. It had slowed the moment Marya's high-temperature fever broke at last.
