The weekend passed in a blur, and Dunk found himself sketching more than usual. His hand seemed to move on its own, capturing the angles of Joong’s smile, the way his eyes lit up when he laughed, even the casual confidence he exuded. It was a habit Dunk couldn’t shake—this need to put his thoughts on paper—and Joong had quickly become his newest obsession.
On Monday, Dunk’s concentration was broken by a text notification:
**Joong:** *Meet me at the art building? I’ve got a surprise.*
Dunk’s pulse quickened. He grabbed his sketchbook and headed across campus, the weight of anticipation building with each step. When he reached the art building, he found Joong waiting outside, looking just as relaxed as ever, hands in his pockets and a casual grin on his face.
“Hey,” Joong greeted, his eyes brightening when he saw Dunk. “Follow me.”
Without explaining further, Joong led Dunk inside, through the quiet halls, and up a narrow staircase that led to a small, unused studio. The room was cluttered with old art supplies—dried paint tubes, stacks of canvas, and half-finished sculptures. Dunk had never been here before, and the secluded space felt like a hidden sanctuary.
“What is this?” Dunk asked, his curiosity piqued.
Joong shrugged, closing the door behind them. “Just thought you might like a quiet spot to work. I know you’re always sketching, and I figured it’d be cool to have a place where no one bothers you.”
Dunk blinked, touched by the thoughtfulness behind Joong’s gesture. "You... did this for me?”
Joong scratched the back of his head, looking slightly embarrassed. “Yeah, well… I figured artists need their space. Plus, I thought I could hang out here too. Maybe get a sneak peek at your genius in action.” He smirked, trying to play it off, but Dunk could see the sincerity behind his words.
Dunk set his sketchbook down on a nearby table, glancing around the small room. It was cozy, a little dusty, but perfect. And the fact that Joong had gone out of his way to find this place for him—it meant more than Dunk could put into words.
“Thank you,” Dunk said quietly, his voice carrying a weight of gratitude he hoped Joong could hear.
Joong grinned, leaning against the table. “No problem. Just promise to show me some of your work now and then, yeah?”
Dunk hesitated, feeling his cheeks heat up. He wasn’t used to showing his sketches to others, especially the more personal ones. But with Joong standing there, looking at him with that easy smile and open curiosity, Dunk felt himself wanting to share a part of himself he usually kept hidden.
"Actually, there’s something I want to show you,” Dunk said, his voice barely above a whisper.
He opened his sketchbook to the latest page, revealing a series of sketches he’d done over the past few days—portraits of Joong, capturing his various expressions and the small, quiet moments Dunk had observed. Each sketch was filled with emotion, as though Dunk had poured his heart into every line and shadow.
Joong’s eyes widened, and he reached out, tracing his fingers lightly over the drawings. “Is this… me?”
Dunk nodded, feeling vulnerable but oddly relieved. “I guess I wanted to capture how you look. I don’t usually draw people like this, but...
Joong’s gaze softened, and he looked at Dunk with an intensity that made Dunk’s heart race. “These are incredible, Dunk. I didn’t know you saw me like this.”
Dunk swallowed, his voice catching in his throat. “I didn’t either. Not at first. But you... you make me feel things I didn’t expect.”
The room fell into a charged silence, the weight of Dunk’s words lingering in the air. Joong looked at him, something unreadable in his eyes, and Dunk felt his pulse quicken, his heart pounding in his chest.
Then, without warning, Joong closed the distance between them. He reached up, his fingers brushing against Dunk’s cheek, and Dunk felt his breath hitch, every nerve in his body suddenly on high alert. Joong’s hand was warm, his touch gentle, and Dunk couldn’t look away, captivated by the closeness between them.
“Dunk,” Joong murmured, his voice barely audible. “I think I’ve wanted this for a while.”
Before Dunk could respond, Joong leaned in, closing the remaining gap between them. Their lips met, soft and tentative at first, a cautious exploration that quickly deepened as they both surrendered to the moment. Dunk’s heart raced, his senses flooded with the warmth and scent of Joong, and he felt himself melting into the kiss, his hands instinctively reaching up to hold Joong close.
Time seemed to stop, the outside world fading away until all that remained was the two of them, locked in a moment of raw, unfiltered emotion. When they finally pulled apart, Dunk’s cheeks were flushed, and Joong’s eyes were bright, a small, satisfied smile playing on his lips.
“So,” Joong said, his voice a little breathless, “does this mean I’m your muse now?”
Dunk laughed, his own smile breaking through his initial shyness. “Maybe. But only if you promise not to let it go to your head.”
Joong grinned, his confidence returning. “No promises. But... I think I could get used to this.”
They stayed in the studio a little while longer, wrapped in each other’s presence, their fingers intertwined as they shared quiet conversation and small, stolen kisses. Dunk felt something inside him shift—a newfound openness, a warmth that Joong had brought into his life without even trying.
As they left the studio together, Dunk couldn’t help but smile, feeling lighter than he had in years. Joong had stepped into his life like a whirlwind, but instead of leaving chaos behind, he’d brought a sense of clarity and comfort that Dunk hadn’t realized he needed.
And as they walked side by side, Dunk knew that this was only the beginning of something he wanted to explore, something he hoped would grow beyond the walls of the studio, beyond the pages of his sketchbook, and into something real and lasting.
