The next few weeks were a whirlwind of studying, parties, and growing intimacy between Dunk and Joong. Their relationship became more public, and with it came both excitement and challenges. Dunk found himself navigating not just his feelings for Joong but also the opinions and judgments of those around them.
One evening, after a particularly grueling week of exams, Dunk and Joong decided to have a cozy night in. Joong set up a makeshift movie night in Dunk’s small apartment, complete with popcorn and blankets. As they snuggled up on the couch, Dunk felt a sense of peace wash over him.
“Okay, pick a movie,” Joong said, scrolling through Dunk’s collection. “And it better not be some art film that puts me to sleep.”
Dunk laughed, swatting at Joong playfully. “Fine! How about a classic? Something that won’t make you think too hard.”
“Deal!” Joong grinned, selecting a romantic comedy. They settled in, the atmosphere warm and inviting. Dunk let himself relax, enjoying the comfort of Joong’s presence beside him.
Halfway through the movie, as they were laughing at a particularly cheesy scene, Joong leaned over and planted a quick kiss on Dunk’s cheek. “You’re cute when you’re into a movie.”
Dunk felt his heart flutter. “You’re just saying that to get brownie points.”
“Maybe,” Joong replied, smirking. “But it’s true.”
Just as Dunk was about to reply, there was a loud knock at the door, startling them both. Dunk exchanged a confused glance with Joong before getting up to answer it. When he opened the door, he was met with the last person he expected to see: Offroad, standing there with a confident smirk.
“Hey, Dunk! Mind if I come in?” Offroad asked, his tone casual but his eyes glinting with something more.
“Um… sure?” Dunk stepped aside, unsure of what to make of the sudden visit.
Joong stood up, his demeanor shifting as he recognized Offroad. “What are you doing here?” he asked, his tone clipped.
Offroad shrugged, his gaze flicking between Dunk and Joong. “I just wanted to hang out. You guys look like you could use a little fun.” He stepped into the apartment, his presence filling the small space with an unexpected energy.
Dunk felt the atmosphere shift. He was suddenly acutely aware of Joong’s tense posture and the way Offroad’s gaze lingered on him. “We were just having a movie night,” Dunk offered, trying to diffuse the situation.
“Sounds boring. Why not spice it up a little?” Offroad suggested, his tone light but with an edge Dunk couldn’t ignore.
Joong shot Dunk a warning glance, and Dunk felt his stomach twist. He wasn’t sure what Offroad’s intentions were, but something about his confidence felt unsettling.
“Maybe another time,” Dunk replied firmly, stepping closer to Joong, almost protectively. “We’re good here.”
Offroad raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his expression. “Suit yourself. Just thought you might like some company.” With that, he turned on his heel and sauntered out, leaving Dunk and Joong standing in the doorway, tension thick in the air.
“What was that about?” Dunk asked, turning to Joong.
“Just a guy being a guy,” Joong replied, but Dunk could see the uncertainty in his eyes. “He’s always had a way of making things awkward.”
Dunk nodded, trying to brush off the moment, but his mind was racing. Why did Offroad suddenly show up? Was it just coincidence, or did he know more than he let on?
