The days following Offroad’s surprise visit weighed heavily on Dunk. Although Joong shrugged it off as a meaningless encounter, Dunk couldn’t help but sense an underlying tension that lingered each time they spent time together. Offroad’s words and that unsettling smirk replayed in his mind. He had shown up for a reason, and Dunk couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t the last he’d hear from him.

One afternoon, as Dunk sat alone at a small cafe near campus, lost in thought, his phone buzzed. It was a text from Offroad.

**Offroad:** *Hey, Dunk. Mind meeting up for a quick chat? Promise I won’t make things weird this time.*

Dunk’s heart skipped a beat. Part of him wanted to ignore the message entirely, but another part was intrigued. Joong’s apparent discomfort around Offroad only fueled his curiosity—there was clearly some history there. Maybe meeting Offroad would give him a chance to clear things up, if only to ease the tension between him and Joong.

Taking a deep breath, he replied.

**Dunk:** *Alright. Where should we meet?*

Twenty minutes later, Dunk found himself in a secluded corner of a trendy rooftop bar, watching as Offroad approached, casual and self-assured as ever. He carried an air of mystery, but Dunk resolved to stay guarded.

“Glad you came,” Offroad said, sliding into the seat across from him. His eyes held that familiar glint, but his smile seemed genuine enough. “I thought maybe you’d just ignore me.”

“Honestly, I almost did,” Dunk admitted, crossing his arms. “So, what’s this about?”

Offroad chuckled, looking almost amused at Dunk’s directness. “I’ll get right to the point, then. Joong means a lot to me. We’ve been friends for a long time, and, well, he’s different with you. In a good way, I think.”

Dunk narrowed his eyes, trying to decipher Offroad’s intentions. “What are you trying to say?”

“I’m just saying you’re good for him,” Offroad continued. “Joong’s always been kind of... wild. Not exactly the settling-down type. But with you, it’s different. I can see he’s more grounded, more focused.”

The unexpected compliment took Dunk by surprise, but he stayed silent, unsure of where this conversation was heading.

“But I guess my real question is,” Offroad said, leaning forward with an intense gaze, “are you ready for someone like Joong? He’s… complicated. It’s not going to be easy, being with him.”

Dunk felt pangs of frustration. Who was Offroad to question his relationship with Joong? “Look, I don’t know what your deal is, but Joong and I... we’re figuring things out. I don’t need anyone else’s approval.”

Offroad held up his hands in mock surrender, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. “Easy there, tiger. I’m just trying to make sure you know what you’re getting into. Joong’s got a past—a messy one. And sometimes that can come back to haunt him. Or you.”

The cryptic statement hung heavily in the air. Dunk’s mind raced with possibilities. What did Offroad mean? He knew Joong had hinted at past relationships and a bit of a rebellious streak, but he hadn’t thought much of it.

“What are you saying?” Dunk asked, his voice steady.

“Just that Joong has a habit of getting attached fast,” Offroad replied, his tone softening. “But he’s also good at breaking hearts. I don’t want you to be one of them.”

Dunk felt a mix of anger and protectiveness rise within him. “You don’t need to worry about me, Offroad. Joong and I are good.”

Offroad nodded, leaning back with a casual air. “I hope so. I just wanted to make sure you knew the stakes.” He looked away, then added quietly, “And if you ever feel like you’re in over your head, well, I’m here.”

Dunk frowned, trying to make sense of Offroad’s words. There was something almost sincere in his tone, but the ambiguity of his intentions left Dunk feeling unsettled.

“Thanks, but I think we’ll be fine,” Dunk replied, maintaining a polite but firm tone. He didn’t need Offroad’s interference. Joong was his to figure out, and their relationship was theirs to navigate.

As Offroad got up to leave, he looked back with a mysterious smile. “I hope so, Dunk. I really do.”
