Just as Dunk was starting to believe they’d finally moved past Joong’s old relationship, an unexpected visitor threw them off balance.
A few days after Joong’s meeting with Mark, Dunk was wrapping up a late-night study session in his apartment when there was a knock at his door. He wasn’t expecting anyone and assumed it might be Joong stopping by.
But as he opened the door, his breath caught—standing there was Mark.
“Dunk, right?” Mark said, flashing a charming yet unsettling smile. He looked composed, almost too polished, as if he had planned this visit meticulously.
Dunk swallowed, fighting back a wave of unease. “What are you doing here?”
Mark leaned against the doorframe, his gaze intense. “I thought it was time we met. I wanted to talk to you.”
Dunk felt a spark of irritation. “I don’t think we have anything to discuss.”
“On the contrary,” Mark replied smoothly, not moving an inch. “I think we have plenty. Joong and I... we went through a lot together. I have a feeling he hasn’t told you everything.”
Dunk clenched his fists, trying to remain calm. “Joong told me enough. He doesn’t owe you anything.”
Mark raised an eyebrow, a smug smile on his face. “Is that what he told you? You know, Joong has a way of hiding things. He never really showed his true self to anyone, not even me. I wonder if he’s being honest with you.”
Dunk’s mind raced, his heart pounding with both anger and doubt. He wanted to believe that Mark was lying, trying to stir trouble. But Mark’s words hit a nerve, planting seeds of insecurity that Dunk couldn’t ignore.
“I’m not here to cause trouble,” Mark said, his tone shifting to something almost sympathetic. “I just thought you should know who you’re dealing with. Joong has a way of slipping away when things get too serious. It’s why we didn’t work out. I don’t want you to be blindsided.”
Dunk forced himself to stand tall, refusing to let Mark see his uncertainty. “Joong and I are fine. I don’t need you coming here and making things worse.”
Mark shrugged, the same smug smile never leaving his face. “If you say so. Just remember, I tried to warn you.”
With that, Mark turned and left, leaving Dunk standing in the doorway, feeling a confusing mix of anger, doubt, and frustration. He closed the door, sinking onto his couch as Mark’s words echoed in his mind.
He wanted to trust Joong and believe in the bond they had built together. But Mark’s visit had opened a new chapter of questions, and Dunk couldn’t shake the feeling that this was only the beginning of something far more complicated than he’d anticipates
