Chapter #12

“I'm telling you, British shorthairs are the cutest.” Lena mumbled with her mouth stuffed with food.

“Nah!” I countered,
“Maine Coons are the best”

Lena scoffed, “Those fluffy giants? Too much maintenance”

“Doesn't matter” I replied, their fluffiness is their charm.

“Oh yeah? You are just like them, giant and clumsy.”

“Clumsy?”, I mocked “They are majestic”

Lena giggled. “Majestic, you mean when they trip over their own paws?”

“Well that's just their part of their charm”

It was early morning when she turned up. I was forced to leave the bed and listen to her talk about how she caught sight of a cat on the street and now wants me to adopt one so she could play with her when she visits me instead of dealing with my annoyed face.

“Fine, but British shorthair have those adorable chubby cheeks”

“Whatever, I retorted. “Maine coons have those stunning cooted ears.”

She shakes her head side to side “I think we should get one of each.”

My eyes widened, “what? No! You want to enable my cat lady tendencies?

She replied winking at me, Maybe just a little. We can be really good parents!”

I scoffed. “Who's we? I have no time to raise cats.”

Just then my phone buzzed. I glanced at the screen.

“Unknown number” I muttered under my breath.

“Pick it up, it could be important.” Lena said, trying to get a glance at my phone.

I shrugged, answering the call.

“Hello?”

“Hey.”

“Who's this?”

I heard a scoff through the phone.
“I remember asking you to save my number. It's Rowen.”

“Oh yes…I..I…forgot”

Lena placed her ear on the other side of the phone trying to hear the conversation as her eyes expanded when she heard Rowen's name.

“Not saving Rowens number? That's cold” she whispered.

I rolled my eyes at her.

“Are you free right now?” he asked.

“Yeah I guess, what's up? I replied, pushing Lena off me and trying to push her down.

“I just had something to talk about with the team…about work.”

“Okay. I'll be there at the office in an hour.”

“No, not the office!” He yelled. “We are meeting at a cafe.”

“Cafe? Why?” I questioned.

“I want to meet at the cafe, that's why.”

“Doesn't sound important to me anymore, I'll pass.”

“Can't you just come? You need to listen to your leader” he replied, his tone sharp with annoyance.

“Not fair enough, I don't really support nepotism” I hung up.

“You're going on a date?” Lena asked with her curious eyes popping out.

“No? He wants to have a team meeting at the cafe.”
