"Oh noooo, ohhhhh nooooooo."
The borrower groaned as he watched the oblivious human walk over his pack that was stuffed with a week's worth of food. He knew he should've checked his bag before going out borrowing again, it was already on the brink of snapping but of course he had to ignore it.
Idiot.
Thorn winced as the human walked past it again, blissfully ignorant. He thanked the Gods above for making this particular human so blind. The pack laid completely exposed, directly in the middle of the floor. He had to get it, but for some reason the human was so active so he couldn't do shit. Yet.
To his dismay, it seems that the Human had noticed his pack.
"What the..." The human mumbled, bending down.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Thorn's eyes widened in horror as giant fingers pinch his precious pack, his eyes widened further as he stifled a horrified yelp. He watched helplessly as his food started to fall out of the pack and onto the floor.
The man was tired. He was old and so tired. So this meant that Rowan had to be dreaming whatever he had pinched between his finger. He took the glasses that rested on his hair and adjusted it so that he could see better.
He turned the tiny thing around to inspect it better. "A...bag. It's a tiny bag." He sighed. The first thought that came to mind was that it was one of his daughter's toys, she insisted on bringing her dolls every time she came to his house so now there was a small corner of his house that had a bunch of barbies having tea parties.
But it was a little smaller than the dolls-
"U-Unhand my pack-!" A squeak. A miniscule voice made the older man turn around, trying to find the source of the sound. Was it a rat? He pushed his glasses back up to his hair, he was definitely sure that mice didn't speak fluent english. But again, maybe they did.
"I-I'm giving you one last ch-chance human! Unhand the pack n-now!" Thorn was screaming as loud as he could. This was the first time that the borrower had ever had to face a human, god forbid fight the human.
Rowan blinked twice before rubbing his temple. "I'm hallucinating. That's it, too many all-nighters Rowan, not enough sleep." He mumbled to himself.
Thorn had unsheathed his pin that was fashioned into a sword, he charged at the human and plunged the pin with all his might into the human's foot. All Rowan felt was a sharp stinging prick in his foot, akin to that of a bee sting. He looked down and at that point, he really wanted it to be a hallucination.
A miniature child had plunged a needle into his foot. As a dad of two toddlers, this wasn't the worst pain he felt so he didn't react. He watched as the child took out the pin from his foot and started to lean back, getting ready to stab him again.
"Oookay, that's enough of that." Rowan muttered, he leaned down and pinched the pin from out of the tiny child's hands. This action emanated a shriek from the child, causing them to bolt back to whatever hole that he came out of. The older man simply watched as he disappeared back into the wall.
Thorn panted, both because he was out of breath and the fact that he was panicking. The human had both his weapon and his pack. He peeked his head back out and saw that the human was gone. Never mind, giant fingers appeared in his vision and he yelped in surprised.
"Hey buddy, not tryna steal your things. I'm leaving it out here, grab it whenever you want." Thorn glared at the giant fingers as it started to move away, the borrower started to move so that he could take his stuff back but paused as the giant fingers came back down again. This time they were holding... an entire piece of bread. Well, it was just a torn off piece of bread but it was huge to Thorn.
"Thought you needed some food since I accidentally emptied your...pack. Sorry kiddo, my bad, consider this my peace offering." Rowan says, leaning against the wall and munching on the rest of the bread. He watches as Thorn grabs his pack and pin back before dragging the piece of bread with all his might.
Rowan couldn't help but smile at how adorable he looked, especially because he wasn't trying to murder him with a pin.
"I-I order you to help me with this bread...!" The borrower glares at the human who had an amused looked slapped onto his face. "Help me, now!" He squealed again.
"Oh, you order me do you?" Rowan felt like he was bantering with his own children, the borrower was stubborn just like his daughters. He kneeled down, causing Thorn to flinch.
"Sorry kiddo, I have a bad back so I gotta crouch." Rowan softly apologized as he reached for the bread.
"Wh- I'm not scared of you." Thorn mumbled.
"Sure." Rowan helped the small borrower to keep the bread in his makeshift home in the wall.
"Whenever you need my help," The older man says as he stands up to his full height. "Just scurry out of your hideyhole and find me, ok? Not tryna lure you out to eat you, I'd rather you not starve."
"I won't ask for your help because I don't need help from stupid humans." Thorn stuck his tongue out and Rowan shook his head, chuckling slightly. "Okay kid, come see me when your bread is done alright?"
"No!"
