Chapter 18

Sophie and Keefe walked back to the house, Grady turned when they entered. Sophie held up her left hand with the ring resting on it. Grady smiled slightly, not exactly surprised, but still happy. Edaline on the other hand had walked in as Sophie and Keefe had entered the house and dropped the dish of mallowmelt she was holding.

She ran over to them, "Is that...is that what I think it is?"

Sophie grinned, "An engagement ring? Yes, yes it is,"

Edaline screamed, then pulled Sophie in for a tight hug. Seconds later she pulled Keefe in for a hug too, "I'm so happy for you! Keefe, welcome to the family!"

Sophie pulled away for a second, "So you're not mad that we're so young?" Edaline had always been supportive with her relationships, but she didn't know how she felt about this next step.

Edaline tilted her head, "I know that the connection you have with Keefe is real, especially in the last few weeks," she paused and then chuckled, "But on top of that, do you really think Grady wouldn't tell me what was going on? I know everything and I am more than overjoyed to have this wedding even if everything will be reset."

Sophie looked at her confused, "But you were so shocked?"

Edaline laughed and looked over at Keefe, "I honestly thought Keefe might mess it up and you would somehow end up both covered in alicorn poop, so...great job Keefe!"

Keefe took a mock bow, "Thank you, thank you,"

Edaline pulled them in for another tight hug, "Oh wait, I dropped the mallowmelt when I saw you, but thankfully I always make extra." She snapped her fingers and a tray appeared in her hand. They were ushered over to the couch to eat their dessert.

"When do you think they are going to show up?" Keefe asked Sophie, pulling a piece off of his danish and popping into his mouth.

"No idea, they're probably making us wait because they're mad at me for inflicting them," She responded, taking a sip of her coffee.

A ring at the door made them both whip their heads over to it just to see a random elf walk in.

Sophie had gotten a call on her imparter from Nix and Ruy saying they were ready to discuss going back home. They had agreed to meet at the cafe where they first saw each other, but currently Sophie and Keefe had been sitting there for 10 minutes and they still hadn't shown up.

When they finally show up they get down to business immediately, "We're ready to leave, are you?" Glimmer said. She stared at them, Sophie took a sip of coffee to avoid answering.

Ruy glanced at her hand and his eyes lit with understanding, "Well that's a nice rock on your finger. That wasn't there last time we talked, was it?" Ruy tilted his head, "So what, you want to get married again to make your perfect life more perfect so we might have to delay what you were forcing us to do previously."

Sophie dropped her head, in annoyance, "We aren't planning on staying here forever, we were just enjoying our time here,"

Glimmer rolled her eyes, "Yes yes, you can enjoy your life no matter the time, that doesn't–"

"Well, well, well, look what we have here," A voice interrupted. They all whipped their heads up to see a man with pale, almost white skin and similar white colored jagged hair. He wore a dark cloak with the insignia of an eye on its shoulder.

"Gethen," Keefe breathed. Ruy immediately erected a force field around himself and Glimmer, catching the attention of the rest of the restaurant. They noticed the insignia on the cloak too and ran screaming out of the cafe.
