Chapter 11

Sophie brought them to their home, at least the one in the future. It was currently just a plot of land, but she knew what it looked like so the teleportation was easy. She and Keefe tied Ruy and Glimmer up and started interrogating them.

Before they could even start asking questions Glimmer spoke, "We'll tell you everything,"

"Why?" Sophie asked.

"We kind of don't want you to inflict us again," Ruy answered.

Sophie shrugged, "I mean, that's pretty good reasoning. You better tell the truth though, Keefe will be measuring your emotions," she nodded over to him. Keefe immediately knelt next to them holding both their wrists.

"In a couple of months in this timeline, Tam and I fulfill Gisela's vision of Keefe's legacy," Glimmer started, pausing as Keefe flinched slightly, "After that, I leave the Neverseen and join your group. One day I was in Atlantis when I bumped into Ruy, who was still with the Neverseen at that point. Ruy and I never really got along, but before he left he said his views had changed."

Glimmer stopped and Ruy continued the story, "I was a big supporter of what the Neverseen did, I will not deny that and was extremely important to many of the plans. But I also imagine you have no idea where we ended up, you defeated the Neverseen and forgot about me, because I was gone. Did you ever wonder what happened? Or did you assume I died?" He paused, clearly waiting for an answer.

"When you stopped showing up at first I was distracted by everything else and then we won and I guess...I guess I did forget," Sophie admitted.

Ruy shook his head, "I'm not surprised. I realized that would probably be the case and I was going to leave when I bumped into Rayni. I told her that I didn't think the Neverseen would work, but I wanted to have a chance to see it succeed if it could,"

Glimmer continued, "At first I was skeptical, I had already left the Neverseen, but Ruy made a good point. So we built a machine, something that in 30 years would send us back to before Loamnore. It took us a while and we both kept everything under wraps and stayed on our respective sides just trying to see how things played out. Ruy and I hated each other for most of the time, we were never close in the Neverseen, but over time we started to become friends. When we saw the beginning of the Neverseen's defeat we disappeared. Nobody noticed much because they were so busy and we had already started to withdraw ourselves from everything. We ran off to the forbidden cities and lived there for a while, and eventually we fell in love," Glimmer looked over at Ruy who was smiling. Smiling in a way Sophie had never seen on Ruy's face before, he wasn't looking evil he was happy.

"Yeah, Rayni and I really loved leaving the Lost Cities. While the human cities are polluted we chose to live somewhere in nature where it was beautiful and free from any prejudices or underlying issues like the Lost Cities. We didn't have to go through the whole matching thing which from what I heard caused you a lot of stress," Ruy did have a point and Sophie was growing to respect him and Glimmer for their choices, "We were happy and honestly thought the time travel machine wouldn't work. And we couldn't get to it even if we wanted to because we had its location washed from our memories so no one telepath could get it out of us. And then we woke up here. We decided that if we have to do it again we're leaving the Neverseen early."

"Wait," Sophie said, "You're doing this again? You aren't trying to get back home?"

Glimmer shook her head, "No. This is what the machine is for, to let us reset everything,"
