Chapter 14

"What did you mean by wife?" A voice asked. There was no response. A series of voices continued to ask questions and none of them were answered.

"Everyone, you can ask questions later, I'm trying to help Sophie and while Keefe is clearly not going to leave all of you will," Someone else who Sophie recognized as Elwin said, "Out! All of you out!"

She heard everyone's footsteps walk away and she slowly opened her eyes, "Keefe?" She asked.

"I'm right here," He said, he was holding her hand and he squeezed it.

"Sophie, that one was close, they shot you with a paralyzing dart, but it might have killed you," Elwin said, interrupting them.

"But I'm okay now?"

Elwin nodded, "You have to stay here for at least a week, but yes you will be okay," He looked at Keefe for a moment, "I won't pressure you, but if you decide to tell people what you meant earlier, I would love to be included."

Keefe nodded. Elwin got up and went into his office giving them some time.

"I'm sorry I revealed that, I just thought you were going to die."

Sophie lifted her hand and placed it on his face, rubbing his cheek, "It's okay, it was going to come out eventually. We should probably explain."

"Can't we just wait until we leave and avoid the conversation?" Keefe asked.

"I think Grady will murder you before that will happen," Sophie laughed, a sharp pain appeared in her head from the movement. Her hands flew to her head, she squeezed her eyes shut.

"Foster, what's going on," she shook her head in confusion, "Elwin!"

Elwin was by her bed in a manner of moments, "What's going on,"

"She laughed and then started grabbing her head in pain,"

Elwin's face became worried, "That's not good. It doesn't have anything to do with the paralyzing poison she was given. Maybe it triggered something else."

Elwin lightly tapped on her head and Sophie let out an agonized scream, "It hurts, it hurts, it hurts so much. Make it stop, please!" She whined, her voice getting louder with each word.

Everyone outside burst in, "What's happening?" They asked almost in unison.

Elwin shook his head, "I don't know."

Sophie laid back down, hoping to lessen the pain, but as soon as her back hit the bed her heart started hurting and she arched her body up. It looked almost as though she was possessed as she screamed out in terror and anguish.

"Grab her arms and legs, we need to tie her to the bed!" Elwin yelled over Sophie's cries. Everyone jumped into motion and Elwin tied restraints to keep her there. She pulled and pulled at them trying to reach her heart and tear it out. Tear out the thing that was breaking and bleeding, go numb to not feel it anymore. She didn't know why it was happening but it needed to stop.

"LET ME GO!" She screamed. Her body felt like it was on fire, and every inhale felt like someone stabbing her in the chest. It needed to stop.

"Elwin, what is happening?" Someone asked frantically. Elwin looked panicked, something Sophie had never seen from him before.

Sophie gritted her teeth, feeling something bubble up from her stomach. Her inflicting powers. "No! Please no! Not now! Leave, all of you leave!" Her veins began to turn crimson, blood dripped from her nose and her eyes began to glow red. She started to float, only her hands and feet were pulled down by the restraints.
