Chapter 2

Sophie returned home and was told that she had to go to Eternalia for some reason. She immediately realized what was happening, the beginning of Team Valiant. The next day sped by, Sophie was able to act the same thanks to her photographic memory and no one suspected anything.

When she got home Keefe was waiting with Ro in her room, "Hey," she sighed as she walked in flopping down on the bed. She looks over at Keefe who was clearly fighting the urge to walk over to her, "So I'm going to assume you didn't tell her." I motion over to Ro.

"Is Blondie going to explain it to me!" Ro says, excited.

"Are you sure?" Keefe asks Sophie.

"We can keep it from everyone else, but Ro is always here. Besides," Sophie smiles, "I want to kiss you."

Keefe smirks as Ro says, "Woah, Blondie's become bold. Now you can't avoid telling me or I will be trying out some of my newest microbes."

Keefe sat down next to Sophie as she started to explain what they'd figured out, "Keefe and I are from the future, we're married and this morning we woke up to this part of our life. We have no idea why."

"I knew it! Sokeefe is endgame!" Keefe and Sophie both smile at that looking into each other's eyes. They lean in closer, "Ew! No, I love you both but I don't want to see that!"

"Fine," Keefe laughs, "Changing topics, love the tiara. I'm guessing it's Lady Sophie now?"

"Yep, the whole thing was a pain but I got through it. I just need to get this dumb circlet off." She tries to yank it off her head but it's become tangled with her hair, she keeps pulling it but it makes it worse.

"Foster, let the master of The Hair help you." He meticulously fixes the hair pulling out tangles and pulls the dumb contraption off. "Remember the last time we did this? We actually thought Bronte was your father,"

Sophie laughs, "Oh yeah, that was a pretty good theory, but I can't believe we didn't think about Oralie."

"Yeah, the whole Empath thing really threw us off."

"Ugh, this is reminding me of all the stress of being unmatchable. I was so sure Fitz was going to break up with me and my life would be over." Sophie flops back on the bed. Keefe follows suit.

"I mean, he did break up with you, but it made you realize that much better option. And it helped you figure out who really cared about you. I know Fitz does, but he cares about his reputation more."

Sophie and Fitz weren't the closest in the future, they weren't cognates by any means but they were pretty cordial at big get-togethers with the rest of their group.

"Alright lovebirds, I'm out of here. Get all your kissing out before I come back." Ro announces rushing out.

As soon as the door closes, they waste no time. Their lips connect softly, enjoying the alone time between them. Sophie and Keefe stayed like that for a while before pulling apart.

"You know, you being there for me through the whole unmatchable thing was one of the reasons I knew you were perfect for me."

"Foster, I will tell you this a million times, like I did when you found out. Anyone that truly cares about you won't care that you're unmatchable."

The door opens and Sophie turns, expecting to see Ro. Instead, she sees someone way worse, someone she didn't know how to interact with.

Fitz.

And he was angry, his teal eyes sparked in fury.

"You're unmatchable?"

A/N: Sorry for the cliffhanger, this is what Shannon does to us in the books though so we are all used to it at this point.

Also, sorry for any inaccuracies with the book's plot, I didn't want to reread all of Legacy to get everything correct.
