Brett’s suspicion of his boyfriend being a fucking tease was one hundred percent confirmed as of today.

There were no kisses anymore, neither in nor outside the broom closet out of which Eddy led after their little conversation. No hugs, no burying his head in the crook of Brett’s neck, only a brush of the back of their hands on the way to the cafeteria and a knowing smile here and there. It made Brett simper anyway and let him overlook how awful the tasteless and at the same time oversalted risotto was they had the audacity to serve the few students and professors today.
“Argh! I can’t do rehearsals till nine! No way!”, Nathan groaned over his half eaten portion and threw his head back in despair.
“Nine, huh”, was Brett’s only comment. The time until they were gonna be let off the hook was gonna feel like forever, he knew.
“Gotta pull through! What are you gonna do when you’re a professional?”, Cole shrugged.
“But we’ve been playing sooo freaking much lately! Can’t they like, cut us some slack?”
“I think we have the afternoon off tomorrow so we’ll be well rested for Saturday.”
“Makes sense”, Eddy nodded and his meaningful glance didn’t escape Brett.
“Oh! Good! We could go to the beach! Or to some amusement park or something, what you guys reckon?”
“Don’t you think Angelica has something planned out already?”, Cole meant, mindlessly poking his fork in the sad gue on his plate.
“Possibly”, Nathan lit up and turned to Brett and Eddy, “What about you guys? You gonna join us? Or do we have to start taking therapy sessions because of abandoning issues because you’re going on a date again?”
“I’m sure you’ll be fine without us”, Brett said, a grin forming on his face because of Nathan’s jokeful tone. Nathan dramatically grabbed the left side of his chest.
“Ouch! That’s what we get for years and years of loyal friendship! Cole! I’m appalled you’re not more… appalled.”
“Just very surprised you know the word ‘appalled’.”
Nathan’s “Hey!” got drowned out from everyone’s laughter around the table.
“Actually, I’d be down for some cotton candy and a ferris wheel”, Eddy beamed at Brett.
“Ohhhh, good!”, Nathan chimed in, leaning forward enthusiastically to catch Eddy’s attention, “Let’s see how many roller coasters you can do until you throw up!”
“No way you’ll get me on one of those things!”, Eddy crossed his arms in front of him, “I get so motion sick you don’t understand.”
Brett laughed. Eddy being sensitive to moving vehicles was new to him. “Why do you wanna go in the first place?”
“Sound’s romantic, doesn’t it?” The tip of his fingers brushed over Brett’s knuckles, “I can’t remember the last time I’ve been in such a place, so it would be kinda nice to go there with you.”
“You can’t remember?” Nathan’s eyes were as big as tennis balls, glaring at Eddy.
“Supposed prodigy, remember? All I did was practice.”
“Oh, right.”
“It’s gonna be so hot though”, Cole frowned, “Beach’s better.”
“They have aircond everywhere. And if you fly through the air it doesn’t matter!” Nathan slammed his hands flat on the table and let the forks and plates clink. “It’s decided! We’ll go to an amusement park tomorrow!”

“Romantic, huh”, Brett raised an eyebrow at Eddy on their way back to the big hall.
Eddy smiled and this time, took Brett’s hand into his. Brett’s eyes widened ever so slightly and he mentally slapped his nervous system for being so overly sensitive because of such an innocent, sweet gesture.
“It’s supposed to be fun to spend time there, no? I wanna have fun with you.”
“I’d have immense fun seeing you in a cart flying loopings”, Brett grinned devilishly, causing Eddy to wince.
“Brett Yang, you little devil!”
“Just letting you know what you’re getting yourself into.”
“Oh”, the taller smirked and there was a glint in his eyes Brett had observed many times now; dangerous and incredibly intriguing at the same time and impossible to look away from, “Go ahead! I can’t wait to see more from you. Especially when it’s just the two of us.”

Yup. Fucking tease!

Self evidently, Brett spent afternoon rehearsals with his head in the clouds after spending all his concentration on the third movement on Korngold right after lunch.

During break, Nathan came running towards them in the cafeteria.
"Good news! A whole bunch is gonna come with!”
Brett and Eddy looked at each other. “What bunch?”, Brett dared to ask.
“Like ten to twenty people! Angelica’s asking around now. She said something about a Luna Park just across the harbour! S’gonna be great!”
And with that, he rushed away, probably to support the principal french horn of the Sydney con orchestra in her quest to gather the likely biggest group of musicians to go to an amusement park Sydney had seen so far.
Brett turned to Eddy. “You still want to go?”
“Why not?”, Eddy tilted his head and Brett was surprised he didn’t seem more tense.
“It's a lot of people.”
“Which means we can get away more easily”, Eddy winked and handed Brett his third or fourth coffee today, he’d lost count.
