~*Wei Ying's POV*~
The archery competition is today. I wasn't going to make any problems like I did in my last life. I still feel bad for angering Lan Zhan. I should talk to him about it...maybe. I entered the grounds with the Jiangs. Jiang Cheng was to my left and he was participating too. I glanced around to see who was here and who has yet to arrive. I couldn't help but smile when my eyes landed on the most beautiful man I have ever seen. Lan Zhan looked so amazing in red. It makes his pale skin glow and it is different from his usual appearance. Always in white. Lan Zhan looked my way and gave me a small smile. It felt good to see him smile. It was such a beautiful sight.
"Hey, Idiot!" I heard Jiang Cheng shout at me. I blinked a couple times and looked, "I have been calling your name for a little while now. Good to know Idiot works."
I huffed out a laughed and rolled my eyes, "What do you need?"
"The competition is about to start, we need to get into position," he said, "remember, shoot the right targets and do not touch the decoys."
"I know how the competition works," I said and walked over to the entrance gate for the Jiang sect.
"Best of luck," Jiang Cheng said, "he said and entered ahead of me. He went his own direction.
I decided to head towards the direction Lan Zhan would have entered. I took out the targets as I did so. The competition grounds looks like a maze. One could get lost if you didn't follow the waypoint markers. They were bright yellow so it was hard to miss. After all, the environment was all stone, and cliffs. I eventually found Lan Zhan as I noticed he took out a target and a marker shot into the sky to indicate a point for the Lan Sect. I began to smile again knowing I was back in his presence.
"Lan Zhan," I said calmly.
"Wuji," he said. He and I didn't know if there were others around so we had to use my fake name, "Father will be talking to your sect leader about coming back with us. Perhaps you can help us when the attack happens."
I nodded, "of course," I agreed, "we will have a few months though. And the indoctrination will be right after that."
"Mnn, we have the new wards up and everyone has the evacuation plan," Lan Zhan explained. I nodded and spotted a target. I was quick with my draw and shot it, hitting it head on, "Impressive."
I giggled, "same to you, I saw that shot you took a moment ago."
He nodded, "we should continue on."
"Wait," I said, "I needed to ask you something."
"What?"
"Why did you get so angry with me last time?" I asked.
"I was confused with my feelings back then. When you grabbed my headband I thought you were trying to humiliate me," He explained.
"I didn't intend that, it really was crooked," I said, "why is it so important?"
He stared at me like I had grown a second head, "you don't know the meaning to it? I thought you did."
I shook my head, "I thought it was just part of your sect's apparel."
He sighed, "it means to conduct oneself. Only family is allow to touch it. Parents, children, and spouse."
"I am sorry," I said blushing, "but you tied it around my wrist back at the cold cave before."
He sighed, "Like I said, I was confused back then and I took everything out on you and I shouldn't have. Please forgive me...and you are allowed to touch my forehead ribbon. You are my soulmate."
"So if I told you it's currently crooked, would you allow me to adjust it?" I asked.
He smirked and bent down a bit so I didn't have to reach too far. I felt that smile if his could be dangerous. He knows how to get through to me, "I would like it for my love to fix it," he said. I blushed and adjusted it for him. I found myself placing a kiss on his forehead before he stood back up straight, "Thank you."
I nodded, "you're welcome."
"What are you two lovebirds doing?" I heard a voice say behind me. I felt my face heat up more as I knew exactly who it was.
"Zewu Jun," I said and turned to him, "it's good to see you again."
"Good to see you are doing well," he said, "I saw that by the way."
I let out a sigh and looked away. I soon felt Lan Zhan pull me into a hug and my face was nuzzled into his shoulder. I blinked a could times to realize what he was doing. I smiled as I felt comfort pass through me, "thanks."
"No need to tease him, Brother," Lan Zhan said.
"He will be my brother-in-law soon, I feel like it's necessary," He said. He sounded all to happy and excited for it. I was actually glad to have an other brother figure in my life.
I turned to face him, "I look forward to having an older brother figure," I told him.
"We can spend some time getting to know each other soon," he said, "just so you know, the competition will be ending soon, so you might want to get back to it."
We nodded as he went back on his way. Lan Zhan and I let out a sigh and went to finish the competition together. Last time I won but Lan Zhan beat me this time by one target. I took second place, and Zewu Jun took third. I was actually okay that I didn't win this time. I met with Sect Leader Jiang momentarily and he allowed me to leave with the Lan Sect. We were at the same inn, so I went to my room to change out of these red robes and back into my comfortable black robes. In the morning, I met with Lan Zhan and his sect, and we left for Cloud Recesses.
