Mikha sat at the bonfire, the warm flames crackling and casting a gentle glow across the sands. The others had dispersed, some inviting her to come inside and relax, but she declined. She wanted... no, needed a moment alone. She gazed out toward the ocean, watching the waves crest and fall beneath the darkening sky. The rush of emotions she'd felt earlier had died down, but a lingering shadow remained in her heart, heavy and hard to shake.

She drew her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them as if trying to shield herself from something unseen. The bonfire's warmth protected her from the cool ocean breeze, but it couldn't ward off the chill within her. The frozen sting of uncertainty and confusion that gnawed at her thoughts. Her gaze drifted deeper into the darkness, searching the sky for stars, but tonight it seemed there were none to guide her, only the vast emptiness above. It felt all too familiar, this void, mirroring the darkness she felt inside.

But a voice pulled her back to reality.

"Aren't you cold right now?"

Mikha startled slightly, turning to see Jon standing there, silhouetted by the firelight. He was the source of her swirling emotions, the one who'd been at the heart of her turmoil all evening. Without waiting for her response, he sat down beside her, setting a small knapsack down and rummaging through it until he pulled out a familiar-looking hoodie.

"Here," he said, holding it out to her. "You must be cold."

She hesitated, staring at the hoodie. It was the same one she'd seen him wear countless times, and part of her didn't want to accept it. Should she even be here with him right now? Her mind was already a mess. What if she ended up saying something she'd regret? But when she looked into Jon's eyes, she saw only sincerity. He wasn't asking for anything, just offering her warmth, a simple gesture of kindness.

"Thanks," she murmured, her voice quieter than she intended. She slipped the hoodie on, and a warmth spread through her body, reaching even her fingertips. It was as if she'd been enveloped in a gentle embrace, a shield against the cold both outside and within. She let out a small sigh of relief, surprised at how comforting it felt.

As she took a deep breath, another sensation hit her, a subtle scent mingling with the sea air. There was an earthy note, like cedarwood, mixed with a faint touch of lavender, warm and grounding yet calming, as if it were reaching inside to still her racing thoughts. Her lips curled up in a slight smile. Was this how Jon smelled? She found herself wondering, a blush creeping into her cheeks as she quickly pulled the hood over her head to hide it.

"Are you okay now?" Jon's voice was soft, careful.

She nodded, forcing herself to sound nonchalant. "I'm fine... just a bit tired," she replied, her face still hidden under the hood.

Jon looked at her, his brow slightly furrowed with concern. "It's just... you were really quiet earlier. You seemed... distracted."

Mikha's heart skipped a beat. He'd noticed. She thought he'd been too busy with everyone else, too preoccupied, maybe even with Aiah. But no... he noticed her. She swallowed, unsure of how to respond. Friends noticed things like this, right? Her best friends could always tell when something was bothering her, but she'd known them for years. With Jon, it had only been a few weeks. How could he read her so easily? Was she that transparent, or did he simply care that much?
