It was Solstice's final song before BINI took the stage, and the atmosphere was electric with anticipation. The crowd, now fully engaged, was ready for the night's headliners, but also deeply impressed with what Jon and his band had delivered so far. Backstage, the girls of BINI and the crew watched intently, soaking in the performance.
Jon, preparing for the final number, crouched down for a moment to adjust his effects pedal. A few notes from his guitar rang out softly as he switched to an acoustic preset—this clever maneuver allowed him to keep playing his electric guitar while mimicking the sound of an acoustic. The audience wouldn't even notice the swap, but it gave Jon more control over the performance.
[Track 03: We Don't Talk Anymore – Charlie Puth ft. Selena Gomez]
The opening riffs filled the arena, the soft and melancholic tones resolving with the high-energy tracks Solstice had just played. Jon's voice came in, clear and steady, as he effortlessly shifted into a higher vocal register. The crowd swayed in time, some mouthing the lyrics, their phones already raised to record this intimate, unexpected moment.
Even in the first few lines, it was apparent that Jon wasn't just singing; he was also playing the acoustic riffs himself, a task usually left to another guitarist. Elio provided the steady rhythm alongside the drums and bass, but Jon had chosen to handle both vocal and instrumental duties for this delicate song.
Backstage, Mikha stood mesmerized. Insane. She thought to herself, barely able to comprehend how Jon could focus on both plucking intricate riffs and singing such a demanding melody.
"It's still crazy how independent his hands are from his singing," Gwen finally said after watching in awe for what felt like ages. She wasn't one to talk much during performances, but Jon's skills had left her no choice.
"Isn't he teaching you guitar, Mikha?" Colet asked, turning to her with a curious grin.
Mikha nodded, tearing her gaze away from the stage for a second. "Yeah. I've been training for the solo prod later. He's been helping me a lot."
Colet's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Looking forward to it. You've got a great teacher, maybe the best actually," she said, offering an encouraging smile.
Mikha smiled back, feeling a warmth inside her. "I think so too."
As the song continued, Charles joined Jon with delicate harmonies that added depth to the already heartfelt performance. Their voices blended seamlessly, creating an ethereal soundscape that hung in the air like a soft, bittersweet memory. But just when the audience had settled into the mood, a new voice entered the mix.
Rose stepped up to the mic and delivered her lines with a clear, soulful tone that caught everyone by surprise:
I just hope you're lying next to somebody
Who knows how to love you like me
There must be a good reason that you're gone...
The crowd erupted in cheers. It wasn't often that a bassist took center stage for vocals, and Rose's voice carried a warmth and emotion that perfectly contrasted Jon's more precise delivery. The girls backstage, especially Colet, watched in amazement.
"Her voice is so... majestic," Colet said, visibly moved. "I did not expect that from the bassist."
"The variety they can pull off with multiple singers is unreal," Maloi chimed in, her voice filled with admiration. Although if Jon were to hear this, he would probably rebut Maloi's statement but pointing at BINI themselves, who also had the ability to fulfill variety by utilizing multiple singers.
