Chapter 11: Contract

Past 6:00 pm, Jon and Martin were waiting in a room on the third floor. The room was designed as an office, filled with tables and chairs suitable for work. In one section of the large room, there was a glass-enclosed area that obviously functioned as a meeting room.

Before long, the person they were waiting for entered-Director L. As soon as he walked in, both Jon and Martin stood up. Director L smiled and gestured for them to follow him into the meeting room.

They sat down and began discussing Jon's contract. Director L summarized the main points before handing Jon the contract to review.

As Jon skimmed through the pages, he noted the points Director L had mentioned earlier:

First, the contract duration was for four years, matching the time BINI had left with their studio.

Second, he would serve as a musician for the girl group BINI during recordings, concerts, gigs, events, and tours.

The first point was understandable since the duration aligned with BINI's contracts. As for the second point, Jon noticed it didn't specify him as the lead guitarist, which implied he could play other instruments. While this offered artistic freedom, it also suggested that they had done their research on him, knowing he could play multiple instruments.

Third, this section discussed his pay. It was a good deal, considering the workload. It was higher than his previous job and included benefits-one of the perks of being hired by an official studio, Jon thought to himself.

Fourth, this section allowed him to perform individually or in a group, as long as he didn't publicly discuss his relationship with the studio unless endorsed by them. This meant he could still do gigs and concerts outside of the studio, provided he kept his connection with BINI private unless officially stated in interviews, press conferences, and events.

Fifth, any changes to the contract had to be discussed and agreed upon by both parties before being enforced.

The rest of the sections covered standard legalities, job nature, and additional features-until Jon reached the end.

Fifteenth, he was required to train certain BINI members in instrumentation.

Jon wasn't sure what this meant, so he asked the director.

"Um, Director L, I have a question about the last section," Jon said.

"Oh? Is it unclear?"

"Kind of. What does it mean that I have to train certain BINI members?"

"Well... it is what it says. I want to hire you to teach some of the girls how to play an instrument," Director L explained.

"Okay? But why?"

"Some of them want to get better at guitar, which they plan to use during their solo performances," Director L responded. "Seeing as you're qualified, I added the section to your contract."

"I see." Jon understood. Many of the BINI girls could play instruments. He'd seen some of their performances on social media. Incorporating live instrumentation in performances could offer variety and boost showmanship.

However, Jon was skeptical. He'd never taught anyone to play before, and he'd need to develop a training regimen suited to each instrument. Before accepting, he needed more details.

"Did anyone in particular request to be taught?" Jon asked.

"Why do you ask?" Director L inquired.

"Well, it would help me understand their skill level, at the very least," Jon answered. "And this section seemed rather out of place to begin with."
