"Do you want to perform a duet with Mikha?" Martin clarified.
"Yeah. You okay with that, Mikha?" Aiah asked.
"Oh, uh, yeah," Mikha agreed.
This could speed things up, and they'd get a chance to see the dynamic duo known as Mikhaiah. Within BINI, Mikha and Aiah were both known as visuals and main rappers. However, their voices were quite different. Mikha had a relatively low voice, akin to Stacey, which made her prominent in rap parts for some of BINI's songs. Conversely, Aiah had the softest voice in the group, making her perfect for specific song parts. When Mikha and Stacey combined their voices, they created a powerful low rap combo. But Mikha and Aiah brought a unique blend of softness and depth, perfect for certain vibes. It was evident BINI's vocal repertoire and prowess was not to be underestimated.
"You can discuss what song to perform inside," Martin suggested.
As the two entered the room, Jon glanced at the door and smiled. He waved at Mikha, who returned the greeting.
"Hello. My name is Aiah," Aiah said, extending her hand toward Jon.
Jon shook her hand, recalling his first meeting with Maloi when he realized that handshakes seemed to be the norm here. The other band members greeted Aiah as well. This time, Charles managed to keep his cool as he greeted her.
"Hi. I'm Jon," Jon introduced himself, then proceeded to introduce the other members and their instruments.
Aiah was impressed with their earlier performance of "Fallen" and their session with Maloi. But she was particularly intrigued by Rose, who played the bass. She hadn't met many girls who played bass, and she thought it was pretty badass.
Although she wanted to know more about Rose, they had work to do, so she steered the conversation back on track.
"We'll be performing a duet, Mikha and I," Aiah said. "Do you have any songs in mind?"
"Oh... you can choose one that you two would like to sing," Jon replied, echoing what he had said to Maloi earlier. He was confident they could handle any song.
"Hmmm... how about Taylor Swift?" Aiah suggested.
"That's not a problem," Jon said. "Her songs are fairly easy to play. We just need to add some flair depending on the song and the album."
Jon thought a Taylor Swift song would be perfect for both Mikha and Aiah. While Taylor's songs were usually solo, their compositions were ideal for showcasing individual voices and harmonies.
"How about 'Blank Space'?" Jon suggested. It was one of Taylor's most critically acclaimed songs, well-composed and perfectly suited for the pop scene.
Aiah liked the suggestion and asked Mikha if she wanted to perform it with her.
"Sure, I kinda like the suggestion too," Mikha replied.
"Great!" Jon exclaimed. He then tinkered with his effects pedal while instructing Charles, Elio, and Percy on their respective instruments. Elio adjusted his effects pedal, Charles calibrated the keyboard to the appropriate key, and Percy switched to a music pad.
The reason for the changes was to better suit the pop genre. They had played rock in the previous song, so they needed to change their gear to adapt. The guitars needed a clean, slightly acoustic feel, the keyboards required a key change, and the music pad would provide the synth and sound effects inherent in the song.
Jon's group worked quickly, and after just a minute, they were ready. Jon signaled an okay to the two ladies. Aiah nodded, indicating they were ready too.
